Thread: What can you tell me about Najat Essaghira/Saghira?

I've discovered this singer through You Tube but can't find any information on her in English. Is anyone familiar with her and her work?

She's an Egyptian singer in the classical style (similar to the Lebanese singer Fairouz). You might see her name as "Najat" or "Nagat," (with just her first name, since she's famous enough that that implies her last name), or with a last name spelled "Al Saghira," "El Saghira," "al-Sagheera," and a few other permutations. (The Arabic spelling is نجاة الصغيرة if you want to try pasting that in the search box on YouTube.)

Lots of online streaming sites have pages dedicated to her, and both Maqam and Rashid stock some of her records.
