I recently heard this and would love to find more versions.

So far I have found:

Wala Ya Wala on Oud Bazar 3.

It's blended with Tahtel Shibbak on Bellydance Plus.

There's a Walla Ya Walla on the 2nd Oriental Fantasy album. I don't know if it's the same song (can never find sound samples for those albums!!!!) Can anyone confirm?



("Wala Ya Wala" on Bellydance With Ranine has been misnamed, at least on emusic. It's actually Tigi Nigsim Il Amar.)

The second clip is Hanan's version from her album "Helwa." It might not be widely available anymore, though. Rashid and Maqam don't appear to stock her CDs. At any rate, here are two more versions to add to your collection...

yes, it's on one of the beata and horacio cds, i dont know which one though. i also have the translation lying around here somewhere.

Walla Ya Walla is often used as part of a medley.

It's on Horacio and Beata's Inta Omri (Oriental Fantasy Vol. II) Album, where it morphs into the theme from Scheherezade at the end of the song. I often use their "Scheherezade and the Golden Slave" and their "Walla ya Walla" together in my shows. Oriental Fantasy - CDs (In the U.S., you can get that CD most easily from Tatika's Treasures, Tatika's Treasures: Your Complete Belly Dance Emporium!)

It's also on Fadi el Saadi's "Dalaa Al Nawaem-Bellydance" album mixed with Tahet el Chebak (the Walla ya walla part starts towards the end of the song).

It's mixed with Tahtel Shibbak again on the album Bellydance Plus.

i've heard it sang together with tahtil shebak regularly. or just as one inserted phrase as well.

My guess is because they go nicely together musically, but maybe there are other reasons?

Ah, I knew I had another one - Agibni Kulak on Yasmina's Aheb Masr CD has a snippet of Walla Ya Walla as well.

The only other version I know of is the original one (assuming it is) maybe see if there's an original recording available? Can't help with the lyrics though, sorry!

I have the CD Belly Dance with Ranine and both Wala Ya Wala and Tigi Nigsim Il Amar are on the CD. Tigi is a couple tracks earlier.

It looks like some of the lyrics are here in Arabic, at least the beginning and end of the song. I'm not sure what happened to the second verse. http://www.masrawy.com/music//Music/...x?SongID=11292
