Re: Bozenka music ID
Mathkitty, the first piece of music is on Horacio and Beata Cifuentes' Oriental Fantasy # 6 cd. It's listed as Desert Nights. The one you showed is an older version. I hope this helps.

Re: Bozenka music ID
It is definately Sahara City. This song was very popular in the early 1980's. I'm not familar with the version she is dancing too.
The most popular ones are a version with Abbud Abdel Aal. Some long, some short. There is even a live version out there. The version in the video sounds similar but the background instrumentation is not the same. It has been most recently released by Hollywood Music Center on the Golden Era CD series. Vol.1 is a tribute to Tayyeah Karoika even though she obviously never performed to this song.
I listened to the version on the Masters of Belly Dance Vol. 2 by Ahmad Fouad Hassan. It's a nice version but the original has much more "meat".

Re: Bozenka music ID
I got curious, and looked up the albums and realized it is Sahara City. I guess just like the same vhs and dvds having different covers, songs having different names? I saw another name "Sahra" for Sahara City. Maybe misspelled? Just one more thing to confuse me! Hopefully, under any of these names, you'll find a version you'll want to dance to!..g.:

I like this version, it is very "meaty" indeed. Hope someone can identify it.

Re: Bozenka music ID
I think I found this version on iTunes. I think it is Sahara City by Ahmad Fouad Hassan off the Art of Bellydance: Suhaila's Supreme Selections or it's also on the Masters of Belly Dance Vol. 2.
So now anyone have any ideas about the drum solo? Sounds like it incorporates Flamenco footwork as percussion.Last edited by mathkitty; 03-24-2010 at 12:53 PM.

Re: Bozenka music ID
The version Bozenka is dancing to is 5:12. The Masters of Belly Dance version Sahra is 4:44 and the istrumentation is different.
The Abboud Abdel Aal version on Belly Dance for Arabian Nights is 5:12 but not the same instrumentation that is on the video.
The version on Golden Era of Bellydance 5:11 and sounds the same as the Abboud Abdel Aal version.
I'm pretty sure Bozenka is dancing to an edited version of the live version, Raksat El Sahra on Sayidi Belly Dance with Nagwa Fouad 7:12.

Re: Bozenka music ID
You know what upsets me? Horatio and Beata are the first to call out someone who uses their music without giving them credit but I frequently find that they use classic orientale songs and just rename them! Desert Nights indeed!

Any leads on the Flamenco-esque drum solo?

Re: Bozenka music ID
No, sorry. I can't find it. I've seen two videos with this drum solo. One from Natalia Fadda in her studio (I think she took it down now) and this one. Did you try asking Bozenka?
