I have and love the CDs produced by Yasmina, Outi, Leila and Aziza, as well as the BDSS classics (of course!) However, as a new dancer, I have noted that most of the music on these CDs are used heavily by the performers in my area, so I'm looking to cast a wider net and find something different! I have my eye on the ya Bahia CD, which I hope will have some tracks I can use. Which other dancer produced CDs do you rate? I have one of the Oriental Fantasy series, maybe it's time to buy a few more of these also...but they are pretty $$$!

Re: Dancer produced CDs
Thank you for supporting dancers who produce CDs. I have produced one too - "Golden Days Enchanting Nights". You can listen to sound samples at Khalil Abboud / Leyla Lanty | Golden Days Enchanting Nights | CD Baby It's also listed on Amazon.com [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Enchanting-Nights-Khalil-Abboud/dp/B000K97RPW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1272137244&sr=8-2"]Amazon.com: Golden Days, Enchanting Nights: Khalil Abboud;Leyla Lanty: Music[/ame]
Both sites have MP3 downloads too.

Re: Dancer produced CDs
I highly highly HIGHLY recommend Jalilah's Raks Sharki series. I have the whole series and each one is outstanding -- the selection, the musicianship, the production quality. It's rich music, no synthesizers or drum machines, classics as well as new compositions. They are popular, but if you're not hearing them in your area, they'll be "different". They can be bought inexpensively on Amazon and similar places.
Wash ya Wash is another popular series produced by Yousry Sharif and Raqia Hassan.

Re: Dancer produced CDs
This is a drum solo cd produced by Amera Eid and a lot of dancers in Sydney use it. The drummer on there is Jamal Zraika with Mohammad Ali on Maktoum.
Ameras Palace Bellydance Boutique
What I found interesting is that on some of the solos, it isn't 100% choreographed. It was improvised with Amera actually dancing in front of the drummers.

Re: Dancer produced CDs
Sorry for the hijack, but while we're on the subject, I thought I'd ask: does anyone know a place online where I could buy mp3s from the Oriental Fantasy series?
04-27-2010 06:41 PM #12Re: Dancer produced CDs
I don't believe they are available anywhere online as downloads.
If you're in the US, you can buy the CDs from Tatika's Treasures, Tatika's Treasures: Your Complete Belly Dance Emporium!
