Thread: Looking for a short drum solo

I am in search of a short (1 minute to 2 minutes at the most) drum solo. It needs to be fairly simple but still be interesting with a surprise or two. This is to be used at the end of a duet that is only 3 minutes long. This will also be the dancers first drum solo performance. They have been dancing for years but have not performed a drum solo.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!..g.:

The last minute and a half of (1:31 to be exact) of cycle of life (on the album Shake me ya gamal by Gamal Gomaa) can stand alone as a mini drum solo. I have used it a few times when I want just a bit of a drum solo.

The Dancing Drum by Issam Houshan has some short ones that I remember as being pretty good. It's been awhile since I played my copy of this CD, so won't *swear* by the quality, but they're definitely short. :)

Naked, the new drum solo album from Raquy and the Cavemen has two solos that are appropriately titled "short belly dance drum solo" and "very short belly dance drum solo" I've used "very short" before and like it a lot, I think it is about 1:30

I also use soheir's tabla from Amar 14 often (it is 2:28 ) and there are a couple of very short ( a minute or so) ones on Belly dance for Fortune and Fame.

Raquy's drum solos are both on iTunes and a couple other pay-per-song sites. I love both of those. Very short is 1:19 and Short is just under 2 minutes.

Bellydance for fortune and fame I believe it is by the Modor band. It is filled with mini drum solos.

Wow, that never occurred to me--thanks for the tip! I've shortened some of his 4-6 minute drum solos into more manageable 3-4 minute solos.

Concur with the "Naked" recommendation - I downloaded both of those and they are very original.

There are also 2 short drum solos (under 1 minute 30) on Tony Chamoun's "Drum Attack" (also on itunes I think)

And 2 short ones on Bellydance for Fame & Fortune.
& a few really short ones on the Pangia albums on itunes.
And finally, the Art of the Drum Solo DVD comes with a CD with a few short Issam drum solos.

There are couple on Dancing Drums that are good, and the Amar 14 one is a lot of fun. Thanks for the tips, guys, I needed some new drum solos too.
