How to turn .wav into MP3?
Hi all! I have a song I danced to recently in a contest, it was a cd made by the organizer, and we had to dance to it, and I've don't know the name or artist of the song....I'd like to post it here to see if anyone can tell me what it is, but it is a wav file on my audacity. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks! I'd ask the organizer but she is out of town at Rakassah East and busy.

I use audacity for Linux so I don't know exactly how it works for Windows but you should be able to export it or save it as an mp3. So just import the wav file and export it as mp3. That's how I do it.

I concur ;-) But, you may need to install an extra piece of software to allow your audacity to save as mp3. I found the instructions on the audacity website very reliable to accomplish that smoothly.

Q. How can I convert WMA files to MP3 so that I can play them on my iPod?
A lot of Windows users have ripped many of their CDs using Windows Media Player's default audio codec, WMA. With the popularity of the iPod, many users have noted with dismay that they can't play WMA files on their iPods. Luckily, iTunes provides a simple way to convert your WMAs to MP3s so you can play them anywhere.
A. To convert to Windows Media Audio (WMA) files to the popular and ubiquitous MP3 format, simply drag the WMA files into your iTunes library.
The easiest way to do this is to find the folder that holds your music (by default, it's going to be something like C:\Documents and Settings\User name\My Documents\My Music) and drag it into your iTunes library. iTunes will automatically recognize all of the WMA files and ask you if you want to convert them to MP3.
Go ahead and tell iTunes to convert your music, and it will automatically convert and add them to your library. At this point, you should easily be able to sync the music to your iPod as always.
In the future (to make things easier on yourself), be sure that you always rip your CDs to MP3s.
Hope this helps Jewels =-)

You can use Windows media player to convert wav to mp3 now. If you get an error message, check it on google. I think there is a box in Media Player you need to check then everything will work.

Jewels, you can get Audacity to export as mp3 by downloading and installing the LAME mp3 encoder. Instructions are here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help...&item=lame-mp3
You can change the import encoding for iTunes. In the version I'm using, from the Edit menu choose Preferences..., then choose the "Advanced" tab, then "Importing". In this panel, there's an "Import Using" pull-down menu; the options are AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3, or WAV. Choose MP3, then click OK.
