I googled it and found this: http://www.serpentine.org/yasmin/Zar3.htm

It's a popular song and have gotten complements on it while using it at restaurants, but I don't know about a wedding.

Oh yeah! And here's a nice clip of Munique Neith dancing to a version of it.

Where's Michelle? I wanted to point this clip out to her also, but she's probably already seen it. =)

This isn't the version in that video, but Sami Nossair has an instrumental version on Cairo Delight. It's one of my favorites ..g.:

    That's some amazing spinning there!

I really enjoyed the Youtube of Munique and Lulu. I enjoyed their dancing styles for very different reasons though. Munique was very fluid and graceful, and Lulu was full of emotion and charisma.

Great clip. Thanks for posting! :)

This is one of my faves too. I've done a bit of research on it, You'll find the translation at
    http://www.geocities.com/arabicsongt...ons/linda.html
It was originally sung by the great shaabi singer Ahmed Adaweya. I read in an interview with him that it is really a political song.
It means get well Mother of Hassan- the mother of Hassan being Egypt and Hassan representing the ordinary soldier. so it is actually about Egypt getting well again after conflict. However this is not obvious from the translation. I'll see if I can find the link to the interview with Ahmed Adaweya and post it for you

I've got a version on Amany by Amany and the Baddawist ( not instrumental) and isn't there a version on Aziza Raks too which is instrumental I think?

wow, thanks for the information! Hope you can find that link! ..g.:

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that whatever a shaabi song appears to be about is exactly what it isn't about.

I've found it.The article is called The king is in the House
    http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2001/520/profile.htm
The bit about Salamat Om Hassan is near the bottom of the article.
After I searched for it ages I discovered there was a also a link to it from Shira's bellydance website at the bottom of her Belly Dance resources on the Internet page.
Its an interesting article about Adaweya.
