Heya,
I have 2 music-related questions.
the first: Ana Fintizarak.
what's the background of it? is it a well-known song? is it by Om K originally? I have it on Oriental Fantasy vol. 6, where it's also called "I am waiting for you". wondering if it's a 'happy' or a 'sad' waiting, donno if an original version of it might have lyrics...?
i'd love to hear other versions of this song... :)
question 2:
in October 2010, my teacher hosted Bozenka for workshops + show. at the show, she did 2 choreos, of which one was an oriental take on a very classical piece (think Mozart touched up by Issam Houshan, or something like that lol) - it was a very well known classical melody but i can't for the life of me remember which one, or by whom (a friend says Vivaldi, though i'm not certain of that...)
it sounded reaaaaaallly cool, and i'd really like to find it, but haven't so far. i *did* find a cd called "Mozart in Egypt", but as far as i can tell it's not that...
anyone know what i'm talking about?![]()

Yes, Ana Fintizarak is an OK song.
Here is a version by the Cairo Orchestra:
This version is by Setrak on Zikrayat Ranine:
And by the Diva herself:

Re: 2 questions: Ana Fintizarak / Bozenka song
as per the second part of your question - I'm not 100% sure what Bozenka used, but it might have been from Turbo Tabla's Unregulated:

- back to question one, Shira has the lyrics of Ana Fi Intizarak on her website here:
http://www.shira.net/music/lyrics/ana-fi-inta-zarak.htm
and yes, it is a very well known popular song.Shems - www.shemsdance.com

Re: 2 questions: Ana Fintizarak / Bozenka song
You'll find multiple spellings for the title, depending on the transliteration scheme being used. The title in Arabic is انا في انتظارك if you want to experiment with typing that into a search engine. There are lots of belly-dance versions available and occasionally another performer (e.g., George Wassouf) will do their take on it, but the only version that really matters is Umm Kalthoum's. The original is usually around 35 minutes long, so that would not be suitable for dancing under normal circumstances, but it is important to be familiar with it, because that is what Middle Easterners hear in their heads, even when it's a different version.
Track 3 on "Mozart in Egypt" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozart_in_Egypt uses themes from the traditional Middle Eastern melody "Lamma Bada Yatathanna." Sometimes "Lamma Bada" is listed as a very old Syrian song, and other times as an Andalusian Muwashah--the origins are probably up for debate. Don't know if that's what she used at the workshop, though.question 2:

Here's my best guess at #2 "Spring Arabized"...
if you're a cut to the chase kinda girl the song starts at 5:53

It's Saddy McSadderson but to me in a wistful, "why do you hurt me so" way, not a "you're dead and I'll never see you again" way.

Re: 2 questions: Ana Fintizarak / Bozenka song
to me it's really painfull/sad in this "painfull love", way. 'tormented', i have some words/images for it in dutch and am looking for the english alternative. everything is also tooo big, too much love, too much pain, love that hurts... and it's totally his fault but she cant help but love him madly anyway. and that's the "sad" part then, allowing for some stillness in the dancing anyway, rather than big passionate moments.
