I'm picking out a nice magency with a khaliji section in it to perform to. I've got a few I'm considering, but I'd love to hear what your favorites are. I'd really enjoy something new.
Was there a thread on this somewhere?

Hmmm...totally off the top of my head, so apologies if these are wrong, but I think 'Sukara' from Leila's CD of the same name has a khaleegy section. And so does Hazar Fazar I think?

Yes, Hazar Fazar's khaleegi section is in 6/8 time. There's also Al Amoura from Outi's CD I think, Yasmina's mise en scene/'magence' from Aheb Masr, and of course Tales of the Sahara.

Eshta is an old fave -- the qanun during the khaleegy is awesome.

Cool! so far you are all picking pieces that are already in my collection, which does make it easy to go and listen. Thanks! And feel free to add any more you come across or happen to think of. It will be nice to have this list to refer to in the future.

The others that haven't been mentioned yet, but are already on my list are Heya Di Yasmina and Amar El Laily.Shems - www.shemsdance.com

In addition to the ones mentioned, I also use Rakasni Ya Habibi by Sami Farag quite a bit.

I think Raqs Verona (Haneen Raqs) on Wash ya Wash Vol. 7 also has one...

Outi's Al Ammoura is my favorite.
Others not yet listed off the top of my head: Delli Ya Delli (Mo Gadawi), Raghed (Virginia/Al Ahram Orch), Naheda (?). Sheherazade (Raqs Jasmine).

Re: Magency with Khaliji - Name your favorite Oriental Entrance with a Khaleegy Section :-)
Hi again :)
I'm planning to do a choreography to Leila Sukara and after listening and re-listening to the song I was just wondering: There's this obvious Khaleegy-part that starts at 3:23. But there's also another part at 2:17, that at least at the beginning, when the rhythm changes, seems to have some Khaleegy-groove. I`ve actually seen a video of a dancer, that slightly plays with some Khaleegy-movements in this section, but I'm not sure of this.
What do you think?
Thanks a lot :)
