    Khaleegy recommendations

Can anyone recommend an album (or just a song) with short Khaleegy songs? I plan on doing a very simple routine with my students but am not happy with any of the songs I already have. It is sort like having a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear
I would like something short (about 3 min) and repetitive if you have a suggestion.

Unfortunately I am having the same dilemma myself! So many beautiful songs, but many are 5 minutes +. Because many of them are repetitive, I find I can cut them quite easily if you are proficient with music editing. If not, just fade out at a certain point and shoulder shimmy off the stage?

Soublil Alashra by Al Ahram Orchestra is a favorite and I just purchased the Khaliji CD by Souhail Kaspar which is beautiful

Yeah, I was thinking I would just have to trim one with Audacity

"Ahla Nazra" by the Miami Band is really fun. It's 4:18 but has some repeats and could be trimmed.

In addition to the many short Mohammad Abdou offerings like Marrat Sanah ‫ you could consider one of Asala's Khaliji albums like Qanon Keifak. Also, Hussein El Jasmi has a good deal of variable tempo Khalihi stuff that's under five minutes ‫

The "repetitive" part isn't hard, it's the "short" part that's a challenge to match. The more traditional the music is, the longer it usually runs. If you don't want to edit a song down, you're probably looking at the pop-oriented end of the spectrum, Miami or Myriam Fares or artists like that, but even their short songs will probably run around four minutes. I assume you saw this thread from earlier in the year in need of Khaleegy song recommendations?

There are some potentially useful short songs on Miami's new album but I'm having trouble finding the lyrics, so I'm hesitant to recommend them too vigorously. I've always liked this song from 2004 (their yellow album), because it's very accessible to Western ears. Lyrics are here Miami Band - Ya Omry Ana[*].

Unless you're looking for something three minutes long and Khaleeji AND for a Halloween hafla...

    Hey, birthday girl! :)

"Asharlee Bil Mandeel" is very short and fun. It's on one of Leila's CDs. More ideas here:

Yeah, I read the old thread but wanted some more options. I think I have plenty to go with. I might try for something a little longer but lots of repeats or cut something down.

    Re: Khaleegy recommendations

I'm a big fan of Rashed al Majed and Aitha al Menhali. The songs are generally longer than 3 min, but very upbeat and fairly repetitive. Usually if I need to use a longer song for a performance that I need to be shorter, I just shorten it myself... they aren't hard to edit, because so many parts repeat, you can cut chunks off seamlessly.
