Thread: Belly Dance For Arabian Night -LP Album vs. CD track Listings

Shem posted a video of Tulay on the 1970's FB page which led into a discussion of this CD.

Cassandra ID'd the songs in the clip as Aatine El Nay, El Kalb Yachak Kol Jamil and Ya Salat El Zein comes in at the very end. She has the original LP in digital form. I have the LP cover and the CD. So based on my memory (I haven't listened to the LP in about 20 years, this is what I think what the songs really are.

If anyone could add some insight we'd all appeciate it.

BELLY DANCE FOR ARABIAN NIGHTS BY ABBUD ABDEL AAL –ALBUM TRACKS VS. CD TRACKS
ALBUM AND CD LIST SONGS IN THE CORRECT ORDER. HOWEVER THE SONGS ON THE CD ARE MIS-LABELED.

SIDE ONE

TRACK 1 –Sahara City -CD 4 Ya Salat El Zein
TRACK 2 Aatini El Nay and El Kalb Yachak Kol Jamil – CD 1 Sahara City
TRACK 3 Ya Salat El Zein –CD 2 Aatini El Naya
TRACK 4 El ATaba Khadra – CD 3 El Kalb Yachak Kol Jamil

SIDE TWO

TRACK 1 Afrah El Chaab – CD 9 & 10 Ya Ain Moulayeten/Cham El Nassim
TRACK 2 Layaly Assiout – CD 6 Afrah El Chab
TRACK 3 Hizzy Ya Nawaem –CD 7 Layali Assuit
TRACK 4 Ya Ain Moulayeten – CD 5 El Ataba Khadra
TRACK 5 Cham El Nassim – CD 8 Hizzi Ya Nawaem

This makes me very happy. There are only two, no three if you count Ya Ain Moulayeten, that I know for sure on this album and I have it in DL form, and all the names were wrong, so they are called things like "baladi with drum bit and finale" on my computer!

I think I'm pretty close to being right, but without being able to listen to the actual album I can't be sure. Plus the CD lists 10 tracks, buy my CD had only 9! Which matches what the album has.

I should probably upload the clips? What do you think?

I have an LP rip, would it help you to have a listing with song lengths?

This is great info. I have both formats but no turn table so I'll trust you ladies :)

I decided to put together a video with clips of the songs and the names. Side one coming soon. It would be a great help if you could confirm if I got it right. Once we get side 1 taken care of. We can work on side 2.

So what do you think? This sounds like I remember it. Side One, 4 tracks (but 5 songs).

Lines up with what I have here, yes.

For side 2, could you leave the green screens for longer or just leave the song IDs displayed all the time, that would make it a lot quicker to verify :-)

Okay. I need to redo side 1 as well. I listed a track as being on side 2, not side one.

That would help.

And what does side 2 end with? A drum solo or something else?

A couple of people have suggested that the beledi progression/drum solo/with Sahara finale, should be the last track of side 2 and not side 1? But I've had several people say I got side one correct. I'm confused.

My rip doesn't have lp side info, but the name ID you had on youtube was consistent with what I have. Here is the corresponding picture/list: The Radio Bastet LP Cover Gallery - hope that is useful :-)

I have the LP cover. Just to clarify, I"m trying to make sure the tunes themselves are in order. Not the name ID. The LP cover and the CD cover both have the tracks listed in the correct order. But the actual musical tracks are in the wrong order. Trying to match up the song to the correct place in the line up. For instance Track 1 should be Sahara City. On the CD however it is track 4.

Without having the LP to listen to it's hard to match up. Ideally we need someone who has both the LP and the CD to listen too.

Here is what I think is side 2 or tracks 5-9/10.

Those who have the LP to listen to, please advise if this is the correct order.

It has also come to my attention that there may be more than one version of a CD out there with the tracks all messed up. So it's more important to listen to the music than look at the label of the song on the CD to match it up with the listing on the original LP.

Jeez, what a concept, listen to the music!

A friend pointed out to me that the mislabeled CD is still being sold on websites. We fear an entire generation will be convinced Sahara City is some other song. Then they will tell US we are wrong in our id, because the website MUST be right. LOL!

I've just loaded my CD onto my computer, so I'm very grateful for your list here. I would have only been able to ID half of them by myself.

Just curious about one thing. The track titled "Ya Ain Moulayteen" starts as a tabla solo, becomes the Ya Ain Moulayteen I'm familiar with but then at about 3:00 there is a kind of awkward cut into part of a song I know of as "Afrah al Said" totalling out about 4:09. Do you know if it is it cut that same way on the LP too?

I'm not sure as I can't listen to the LP anymore. But I think that is how I remember it. That whole side two was laid out kind of wierd. Out of the five songs, three sound like they could be used as finales.

Just wanted to say for as much as i dont really fit in around here... I think you ladies are very unique and special group of women.... Really neat to see networking and communication take place to help solve a problem and find the right answer! Its just really cool! :).


Oh and now when i go find and purchase this i will know how to correct it!

This was one of the first "LP's". I owned. My first one was a George Abdo album. It brings back a lot of memories listening to it and it still great sounding almost 40 years later!
