Direct license/royalty free music to use online?

I know this has been discussed before but I'm not having luck with my search...does anyone have a suggestion for either finding affordable royalty free/direct license dance music or know an artist that you have worked with directly to get permission for using their music online? The sites I'm finding are $$$ and their Middle Eastern music is more appropriate for background music than dance. I want to do a series of instructional clips on my new website and don't want to be anywhere near copyright violation territory!

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your reply, but this is the type of site that is causing my frustration. It's simple, straightforward, providing exactly the standard license I want...but it's ambient, there's no dance music!

If you want to work with bellydancers you're going to need some actual Middle Eastern dance music--even drum tracks in Middle Eastern rhythms would be useful!

How about contacting Jim Boz? He's composing all kinds of dance music.

If you could achieve what you want with drum tracks and taqsim music, why not contact an independent musician to see whether they'd work with you? For example, you may be able to find one who would be willing to let you use a drum track free of charge in exchange for putting onscreen text on your clip that identifies them as the source of the music. PM me if you'd like suggestions.

Have you looked at a creative commons site like danosongs or incompetech yet? You are dealing directly with the composers at both of the sites.

I'd like to know what's your affortable. If you want something for very cheap, almost free, I don't have any ideas as producing music IS expensive. If you are looking something in tens or hundreds of dollars insted of thoudsands what big companies ask then there should be different solutions.

I'd recommend all the dancers who produce music (me included). They are likely to be much more friendly with their pricing than big companies as they understand that dance recordings are not bringing buckets of money to the producers.

If you are looking for affordable rythm tracks, then I have some things coming and might be to help on that. Or you might get yourself a drummer and do it with live drumming. Or something.

    Just some toughts!

I'm not asking for free, I know producing music is very expensive. There were a couple of direct license sites that offered a package of songs (you could select from their library) for around $200-$300 for 6-8 tracks. I would have jumped on a deal like that in a heartbeat if it had been dance music, especially a few songs of decent length with tempo changes that could be used in pieces.

Unfortunately I don't have ready access to a drummer (or the scheduling flexibility) to try and do it live. I'll definitely start knocking on the dancer/producer's doors!

I found out about the site through a facebook group. I liked that they had some dance usable music, and the license quotes.
