My fave version is the one sung by Safaa Farid on Leila's CD Tarab Vol1.
It has the jolly intro bit all the instrumentals have and then it goes into the actual song which is lovely.

This has to be completely off topic for a Belly Dance forum but hey, this is what you folks have to deal with every now and then.

For all that it's worth, I think Abdel Wahab's original choice of Mayada El Hennawi was a better one. Their rehearsals together were delicious.

That's very interesting. The song is almost unrecognizable! Awhile back I bought several Abdel Wahab downloads I ended up being disappointed because I thought they were finished versions of the songs and instead they were like those clips, a work in progress. Fy youm we lela was one of the recordings as well as Enta Omri. Even the one labeled Enta Omri final rehearsal is unrecognizable from the OK version we all know and love.

Whenever it comes to the major Egyptian composers, it's these renditions that we seek and strive after. The other recordings musicians desparately seek as well are the rehearsals (oh yeah). Also, whenever dance recitals take place at music institutes, they're almost always to these versions. Year in and year out, you can always count on at least one dance performance to Baligh Hamdi's solo oud of "Alf Leilah W'Leilah".

P.S. How could you be disappointed in an Abdel Wahab performance? I'm reporting you to the Egyptian arts police. C'mon, When he sings, it's like ... C'mon! Can you say generalized piloerection.

LOL, well there's the version from Jalilah, the new one by Safaa Farid, a strings version on an album called "Soiree Orientale", Fella Ababsa's, Fadl Shaker and of course Warda's! I also kind of like the version that Mario Kirlis played for Saida but if he recorded it, I haven't been able to find it. I might have more, I'll have to search deeper in my iTunes library! ;-)

I do have the Jalilah version. Also a version from Belly Dance Nightclub which is a really nice version though not the best sound quality. I just ordered the Sayed Balaha version which cost an arm and a leg as I had to buy the whole cd.

I have a version by Daniel Der Serhakian on Belly Dance Compilation, but it's not the main melody.

I have the Hamoudi Ali version from Gift of Cairo, also not the main melody. It sounds like Kariat Fingan then actually goes into kariat fingan.

I do have the original Warda version.

I'll have to check out the other versions.

I love this song. To me it evokes the Disney Princess sort of thing like, "some day my prince will come". I can't help but want to be a princess when I dance to it.

I have received the Sayed Balaha version and I LOVE IT! It is now my favorite version other thanthe original.

Because of the clapping in the background, I think she is using an original Warda recording, live in concert.
