Needed: Saidi song suggestions for bridesmaid dance ;p

    Hi everyone,

I'm planning my wedding for this summer and I would really love to choreo a little saidi dance for me and my bridesmaids (3 of the 4 are pro bellydancers), and although I have a ton of music, I can't seem to find exactly the right piece.

I'd love to hear your suggestions please!! I'm looking for something fun and cute, but with a somewhat classic feel to it. I love Metkaal Kenawe but it might be a bit too hard core saidi for the guests who, unlike the bridesmaids, are mostly not dancers.

    Thanks :)

I have a couple versions of El Baston in my library, Mario Kirlis (6 mins), and Tony Mouzayeki (4 mins). Very similar versions though Mario Kirlis has a richer sound I think. Available on Amazon MP3 downloads. A nice warm feeling, a fun beat and slow tempo that won't be too challenging for people not used to dancing.

What about Tigi Neksim El Amar? Technically more debke than saidi but traditionally used by dancers for cane. Walid Toufic as many versions out there.

Just have to say a thanks to Candi!

Don't know how Marwa has not been on my radar. Just listening to a few of her tracks now including that fun saidi and she is fab!

Now bopping in my office chair to Ayza Ares...

Marwa is technically Lebanese, but she actively cultivates the Egyptian music market. You may want to be careful about using her music around natives, though. Marwa is one of those singers like Haifa Wehbe and Ruby that some people find unacceptably provocative in a sexual way. As a general recommendation, it's helpful to have a good feeling for how likely your audience is to be offended by that sort of thing before you use her music.

Thanks Ladies! These are all great suggestions. And that Marwa video is super cute and thank you for the translation too, Candi! Bridesmaids and one or two other dancing guests aside, there won't be anyone there who will be offended by Marwa or even really know ME music, so I have no worries there, I just don't want to offend the guests' ears with old school saidi or pop (although I do love me some old school saidi!) If anyone else has suggestions I'd love to hear them too!

Now for the debke line song... myself and one of the other bridesmaids spent a few years in a debke group so we'll be doing a little tutorial ;p

All of these suggestions are great, but I *love* that Marwa song. It's adorable and has just the right feel for a party. If your guests didn't have fun with that one, I'd say they had no pulse!

I especially like the exotic English language samples.
