Thread: Nabtadi Minen il Hikaya

I really enjoy this song and I was wondering if any of you could recommend other cersions than the one I have, which is from The Masters of Egyptian BD Music, vol 2.

I haven't come up with much yet, maybe because of alternate spellings?

If anyone can point me to the one in this clip, I would also really appreciate it. Later in the song, there are vocals.

Hmm, Tony Mouzayek maybe? Kind of sounds like him and she´s Brazilian so... Great clip by the way!

I was thinking it might be Tony M., I'd like to get my hands on some of his cds! All I can find of his here is that cd he made with Mario Kirlis.

And yes, isn't Kahina lovely? I like her style, and alot of Brazilian dancers.

I really like the version on Bellydance Superstars Vol 1 (it's actually from one of Suhaila Salimpours Arabian Musicals CD )

also sometimes spelled Nipteddy Minen- On Careyoka in Cairo (my actual favorite version)

On Jalila's Stars of Casino Opera is the long 20 minute version

Ta Mavra Matia Sou (George Abdo) is also the same melody

Of course, there's always Abdel Halim Hafez's full-length one-hour version. That's obviously not arranged for dancing, but it's great to listen to it to get the "feel" of the overall song.

The second instrumental segment appears on Gems of the Middle East Volume 1 by Mary Ellen Donald and Mimi Spencer. The instrumentation is simple, a kanoun + percussion. I use it for one of the choreographies that I teach to my Level 1 beginner students.

Another version is :Nbtedi Mnein El Hikaya by Setrak on Belly Dance: Yalla Bina Yalla

It's a little bit shorter than some of the other versions. Its' recorded live, so there is some clapping in it. But minimal.

I do have a Tony Mouyzak version from his Vol. 1 Cd. It's called Tiptidi. I does sound a lot like the first part of the video. The difference is it doesn't have any vocals. But my guess is, it is Tony's. He redid a lot of his songs several times.

You can't. I contacted his store a few months ago and they aren't shipping to the US. You have to either find some used ones, or know someone in Brazil.

But come to think of it, that first video clip reminds me a lot of the Nagwa Remix that someone had posted a while back. At first we were convinced it was Tony Mouzayek as well. But some one told me that they didn't think so and it was actually recorded by Soraia Zaied's band in Egypt and she sold the CD in a workshop. So maybe that's the same here?

Regarding what you said the selection in the clip, that's cool - another avenue to explore! I just love the way that version goes along at a nice pace and then eases into the soulful solo.
