Is Asena's "Warda" from a Warda song?-ID FOUND!

    Hey, Ladies,

Regarding the song "Warda" which appears on Asena and also on the compilation CD Golden Oriental:

Does anyone out there know if this is actually a Warda song?
Anyone know what the original was called? I'm researching and looking for the original if it was sung by Warda.

    Amazon clip below:

    Thanks Everyone!

It is from an album sung by the great Oum Kalthoum. The piece we usually use, is instrumental part in the middle of a song about 20 mins long. It's a little more embelished, and the version on Asena's CD called 'Warda" is simplified and is a bit faster. The original is quite beautiful. I'll get the title for you, it's at my studio, and I'm at home.

Interesting. And the song titled 'Asena' is actually Om Kalsoum's Ana Fi Intizarak.

It's a very dance-able version. But it would be so much easier to research songs if music producers would stop changing the names!

Yes it is a Warda song, one of my favorites. It is called Hobak Salehny and you can find it on her album Nar El Ghera. The portion on the Asena CD is the intro. The whole piece is really wonderful. So far as I know Um Koulsum never sang this piece.

    The CD:

Here is Tina Sargent dancing to an edited version of Hobak Salehny from the Nar El Ghera CD:

Asena on this same CD is a sped of version of Um Koulthoum's Ana Fi Intizarak.

Thank you ladies for all your comments...

Naturally, I've owned that music for many years...isn't it always the same, what you're looking for is right there in your library...but in this case, it's on cassette tape...a good reason to finally buy that music on cd...lol

    Thanks everyone...

    Happy Dancing!

I stand corrected! I checked out my Cd of Oum Kalsoum, and it is quite true,it was NOT Oum Kalthoum. It IS a Warda recording (thank you, Shems!). I feel really dumb now. Sorry about my great misinformation!
