Smile Turkish arabesk songs in instrumental/adjusted for dance performance

I´ve had the instrumental(shortened) of Günah Bize for years before deciding to use it(in case anyone likes this,it´s avaliable on Spotify)

When listening through it to finish a choreo for a w/s this autumn...I decided to ask for more in the same genre..anyone know any goodies?:-)

Admittedly, not a constructive contribution, but I feel I should share a Turkish-music-geek moment: I have the strong urge to joke about the often discussed aspect of urban decandence of Arabesk. Me, I am a good girl who loves Romani music. :-)

Hm, my never fail to tire me favorites are Candan Ercetin's CD Aman Doctor, classic folk tunes interpreted beautifully, anything by Husnu Senlendirici (absolutely fantastic clarinet player), and the Istanbul Oriental Ensemble for more oriental dance music (I am not too much into the CD Grand Bazaar, the rest is good). For easy to like classical music, Jordi Savall's Istanbul. And, for a mighty cool documentary, I highly recommend watching Crossing The Bridge - The Sounds of Istanbul. This is going back to the original topic, since one of the musicians covered in the movie is Orhan Gencebay, one of the big stars of the Arabesk genre, an actor and singer. And, no idea what Spotify is. Last but not least, a must-have for all dancers is Yasmin Henkesh's Turkey/Egypt, songs from across the Ottoman empire played by the top muscians in Cairo, with a booklet with song texts, translations and background information that is hands-down the best in the bellydance world. I helped with some of the research that went into it, so I know first hand how much effort and knowledge is behind it.

Ensemble Hussein Turkmenler has about 6 or 7 cd's of Turkish Oryantal which are a great introduction to many of the classic Turkish songs

This is PERFECT-just what I was looking for!
I love Zeki Müren´s songs, but though shorter than the egyptian classics,
a 28min song is not possible to use for a choreo...and cutting and pasting leaves out the parts where people know the lyrics etc.

A world of music - Spotify
Spotify - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spotify is a legal listening+downloading service that is financed firstly by commercials(like some radio stations)secondly by the fees to download music.
You can listen through entire songs, create how many playlists you want and share etc

For teachers it´s practical to share "practising"or "choreos"playlist with students,so that they have access from day 1 and can practise at home how much they want and choose to download or just listen.

Of course the music choices are somewhat limited-but the have started to build up a good collection of music now.Good mix albums avaliable on Spotify are "Kanal Arabesk -87","Arabesk Firtanasi 2",and playlist "Damar&Arabesk"by solo_yildiz (12 hours long...)

I like arabic music the best, but my little brother speaks turkish and likes to have a sentimental evening now and then...
The arabesk I like the most is fully orchestrated, pompous, ottoman in the styling(high pitched) and most important:
without any humour or good moods what so ever, only about unhappy love etc*

It´s a quite "hard to find"song,sadly...the instrumental on Spotify("Sark Günesi"="The Eastern Sun") doesn´t have the good sound of the originalwill transfer from my cassette tape.

For those who like to read I had some bookmarked links that I saved for sending to w/s participants, plus that I can recommend Martin Stokes books(pure edutainment)
JSTOR: An Error Occurred Setting Your User Cookie
ARTS-CULTURE - Sound of shantytowns wins musical showdown in Turkey
Turkish Arabesk Music and the Changing Perceptions of Melancholy in Turkish Society (Can Yalcinkaya) - Academia.edu
    Turkish Music Portal

About the "eastern connection" of the arabesk music:Kurds.
    Aksoy 4
A large % of the "ethnic"audience in my country on dance gigs, weddings, celebrations and so on;community here about 100 000.
Much of the older generation living here are multi lingual(dialects of kurdish+farsi, turkish, arabic)
And many musicians are from kurdish areas in Iraq ie speak arabic as their second language, and the turkish songs they know are repertoires of arabesk...so I thought the girls maybe the girls can connect more and be able to ask for songs from them after a taste:-)
