    Discovered Darag --Music Suggestions?

This morning I had a fantastic opportunity to practice with some live drummers. And these folks know their stuff! They played a beautiful 3/4 rhythm called darag and I fell in love! Any music suggestions out there for this beat???

    Thanks!

Mashaal - Darag Tunesi around 4:52, although sometimes this can be played like a valse or waltz.

Wikipedia (Rhythm in Arabian music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and Maqam World (Muwashahat Rhythms 2) list sama'i yürük and darij as the same 6/8 rhythm. There's some discussion over in this thread Alf Leyla triple rhythm?

From what I understand, the sama'i family entered Arabic music from neighboring cultures, and it looks like the word in Arabic is دارِج (daal+'alif+raa'+kasrah+jeem, accent on the first syllable) Meaning of the word دارج , so it may make more sense to defer to Maqam World's transliteration, not "darag" with the hard Egyptian jeem.

Here's an example of someone playing it in Hijaz:
