These are aimed at drummers, but Karim Nagy is very good:KARIM NAGI / Arab Tradition Re-Imagined / Arabic Music, Dance & Culture / Percussionist , Folk Dancer , DJ, Composer

His Musicality for Dancers is also very good, at least in the live workshopl, and I'm sure the DVD is good, too, but not specifically about rhythms.

This is not a DVD (therefore not really what you asked :P) but just to add to your studies, there are a few sites that have been enormously helpful for me in making sense of and studying rhythms, especially this one (which gets referenced so much it seems to be the mack-daddy of ME rhythm sites):

Jas's-- Middle Eastern Rhythms FAQ (for dumbec, doumbec, doumbek, arabic tabla, darabuka, tombak, zarb ...) : Rhythms for Dumbek and Belly Dance

I really like Jenna and Raquy's video, Heartbeat of Bellydance. In it, Raquy breaks down and explains the most commonly used rhythms, and then Jenna shows some moves that go well with each one. She also gives three different drum solo combinations to follow.

I would recommend Bellydance Rhythms Workout over the Heartbeat of Bellydance. The Rhythm section on Jenna's DVD is wonderful, but it's relatively small. That video focuses more on the choreographies and layering & shimmy drills. The Bellydance Rhythms Workout DVD is rhythmic centric, start-to-finish.

I don't own it, but Arabic Rhythms & Combinations with Tamra Henna & Amir Sofi looks like an excellent rhythmic resource. Promo link.

If you are ever in the Bay Area, you should try to check out Shabnam's advanced classes on Monday nights. We work on rhythms in sagat and drums every class, and what I love most is that she teaches unusual ones as well. Last week we did karachi, super saiidi and katakofti (sp?).

Her bellydance day decade show next weekend on sept 1st will feature a whole acapella music set, we are so excited to see this!

If you are interested in books, Mary Ellen Donald has one, and I hear it is pretty good. god luck to you
