Thread: Different Versions of Wahashtini?

I'm looking for different versions of Wahashtini, hopefully a livelier version than the one in On Fire! and better quality than the one in Bellydance Nightclub. Any suggestions?

Ohhh, good question. For some reason the On Fire! version just rubs me the wrong way...like it's just missing some elements of what makes that song so great.

Those are the 2 I have on CD. I prefer the Belly Dance nightclub version.

But I have a friend who just yesterday emailed me the original by Soad Mohammad. Just plain beautiful. It's 12:01.

I know she is also trying to get the version that Reyhan is dancing to on youtube.

There's a good version on Raksit Badia, and at about six and a half minutes, it's a good length, too.

I like the Sami Nossair Orchestra one on Beyond the Desert a lot, but I don't know if I'd describe it as 'lively' (I haven't heard the 'on fire' version).

This one remains my very favorite, though. Wish I could get this guy to do shows with me!

How do I get a copy of Raksit Badia? I can't find it anywhere. I don't know if it's out of print or if I'm just looking in the wrong places.

Actually, it may be out of print - it was released in '05 or so by a musician out of Canada. Bahaia may know - I'll ask her about it.

How beautiful is Hannan? Wahashtini is one of my favorites.

Lauren --I LOVED THAT CLIP!!!!!! What a voice! He is the ME Bobby McFerrin (not sure how to spell that). I really enjoyed watching him. It made me want to dance!!

Does anyone know if the Sami Nossair version is different than the On Fire! one?? I'm having trouble finding any samples to listen to, except for Amazon which is like 10 secs long.

Does anyone have the Setrak version??

By "original" do you mean the cassette version? Do you know if Soad Mohammad's version is available on CD? I've been trying to find it, but no luck, so far. I have the cassette, but would love to have a CD if there is one. If I don't find it before June, I'll look for it in Egypt then .

I don't know if it's on CD. I would imagine it's somewhere as it's such a popular song. You might have to go to a ME music store to find it. You can download it though.

This is the version that I like sooooooooooooooo much and Angelika Nemeth taught a choreography to it a few years ago (I think after Mona was at the conference in California/I have to check those vids to see if she performed to it). I bought the CD after that and I now check for CDs by him . . . I like his voice a lot. ..g.: He does a great version of "Walla Mara" that I danced to about 4 years go.
