Thread: ******"IM is Back Up"***** Please Fix IM, getting weird emails

As a result of IM not working I have posted my email for various users that I have been trying to do business with and now I am starting to get emails from people that say they saw my profile on Bhuz and want to have a relationship with me. Weird.. I know that being on Bhuz puts me out there but up into now people that I have been emailing with are only people that I am doing business with. Anyone else getting emails?

No, not yet but I was a little nervous about putting my email out on Bhuz for just this reason. I wouldn't worry too much about the ones you describe tho - sounds like a lot of the spam that has been going around long before the Bhuz derailment. Creepy, but not - scary.

i don't think spam bots can get that set up..i hope not!

We hope to have the private messages fixed this evening. My apologies for all the problems it has caused.

I hate to burst that bubble, but this cannot stop a determined spammer. It is ridiculously easy to write a regular expression that translates most of the standard disguises into a usable email address - I could probably do a workable job even before having my first coffee ;-) However, to put that into perspective, I have typed out my address on Bhuz a few times, and I have never received any of the above-mentioned spam from that.

I'm low tech....so I assumed they used some sort of program or spambot to pick up email addies....but I see your point that this is a pattern that would be recognizable as well.

Ah, sorry for being the bearer of bad news - maybe it can be useful for you to be aware of what the bad guys can do without much effort? But you don't have to worry too much about using your email address on Bhuz, in the worst case, you will get spam, but it won't comprise you computer's security.

Strange. Until today I had an indicator I had PMs but was unable to open them. Now the info is 0 messages. Anyone else having the same problem?

Showtime I did have that problem too. PS just checked IM is back..... Yeppieeeee.

yep, all my new PMs are gone too.

my old ones are back!!!
but the 2 new ones I was sent notice for aren't there at all.

No PMs for me. All previous ones are gone, no idea if there was any recent ones. I realize Rosie is working hard to correct the situation so I am not stressed - just passing along info.
