Dear Rosey and other bhuzzers,
Those of us who have been on the boards for more than a few years know that there are certain topics that come up over and over again. Newbies to the board have trouble with the search function and tend to ask the same questions asked the year before. (Diehard supportive bhuzzers answer these queries: I salute you!)
I would like to ask whether we have some way to nominate threads for "sticky" status in order to better archive these popular questions. Some of them are topics with lots of useful opinions that don't necessarily change over time ("How do I 3/4 shimmy?" "Is it okay to dance to Oum Kalthoum?"). Some of them are topics that it would be good to add new info to periodically ("Where can I buy big sew-on rhinestones?" "Who sells the best finger cymbals?").
If a thread is truly full of great reference info, making it sticky at the top of the forum might make it easier for people to find, and it could become "the" thread on that topic.
What do you think? Is there some way to do this?
thanks,
tigerb

Re: a campaign for more Sticky threads
I like the idea and it is standard among many other forums :-)

Re: a campaign for more Sticky threads
The only problem is that many of these topics have more than one good discussion associated with them. Maybe it would be better to create a single sticky thread that lists by topic like All The Lyrics has for their song lyrics ("Look here before posting...")?

Sorry I didn't see this request before. I will create a Forum in Announcements for you to nominate important threads.

i dont mind stuff coming back up again and again, views and opinions change... and we couldnt keep a topic on top for years and years and years right, it's just another job for you to maintain also, and is it really necessary?

Re: a campaign for more Sticky threads
I'm with Artemisia. Just because those of us who've been here for years have discussed a thing a dozen times doesn't mean someone new to the boards shouldn't have a fresh discussion.
Otherwise we lose a lot of interactivity and become more of a reading library.
when a topic comes up that I'm bored with, I just overlook it. Let other people have a chance at it. And sometimes I learn something new from their discussion.
