What is the bar chart under our names? I just now noticed them.

I don't know if it is related but Bhuz just got REALLY slow for me.

I'm not liking it either. I miss the old Bhuz. There was nothing wrong with it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ..cr.:,f::

sorry - what are these bars actually for? next level? achievements? I'm not understanding the context here.... aren't forums for posting, chatting, asking, answering etc, rather than competing to get levels and achievements?

Anyone out there able to help me out with an explanation?

I'm kind of guessing that it might be a visual representation of your progress towards the next "star" rating? Just a guess though - I always thought the star rating was based solely on number of posts, though, so... I have no idea what the other bars would be.

ETA: I just noticed the ability to say Thanks or to "like" posts - so I'm assuming people can be ranked/rated/rewarded on the usefulness of their information? Maybe? Which could actually be helpful, in a way - although I'd also welcome the opportunity to "dislike" or vote down certain posts too. In the interests of checks and balances.

Yay, me too! :)

I don't know about it being solely # of posts though - looking at various users' charts, there are some people with high 'levels' but significantly less posts than those with lower 'levels'.

Mmmm, it's definitely not just number of posts now - but the star rating used to be. I'm a bit baffled by the levels thing - it seems to fluctuate quite a lot even amongst people with similar star rating/comments numbers.

Weird. ..c:: I mean, I know I've been a bit quiet lately, but 0% active? I'm so lazy.

ETA: OMG, now I'm 40% active!!! I think I may have to go lie down after all that exertion. Phew!

ETA - it totally worked. Activity level seems to be how active I've been on this thread. Interesting.

I am curious about these bars as well, I am 0% active which seems rather odd when I have a 1000 posts. I may not be posting in every thread, but I am logged in most days. Oh well I am sure it will all be explained

I found out how these bars work below the events button below header is 'Experience' click on that and the whole thing is explained. Not sure I like the concept much. Seems kind of involved to me. I suppose like anything new one will become use to it..g.:

Thanks for pointing me towards the explanation, Mosaika. I don't think I like it, but then, I'm kind of super-anti-competetive... I like the stars because it tells me who's been around for a while & who has long term cred in the forum, but I'm not fond of the bars or the friend icon, etc. Not that it will keep me away (heh)

I agree with you Lara, the stars are 'friendly'..g.: I am also not very competitive and this bar chart/experience thing is all a bit much. It is difficult to ignore as the bars stand out under everyone's names.

The experience/achievement stuff wastes too much real estate on the page, IMHO. A short post takes up inches more than it needs to, because it uses all that extra length in the margin for reporting user statistics. The amount of information that came up on the older system was plenty for me. I don't have an urgent need to know how close people are to getting another star or how many messages they've posted in the last month. I could estimate that with the older metrics if I wanted to know badly enough.

Ick!!! These kind of skill/accomplishment bars don't belong in a serious discussion forum for adults.

And, more importantly, on a mobile device (Evo, iPhone, ...), this interferes with the usability of the site.

If Rosey reads this - can we please get rid of the module? Seems that there is clear consensus against it.

I also preferred the stars.

I've noticed Bhuz is much slower, and harder to navigate.
I keep getting 'you don't have access', or the page keeps reloading itself.

I don't know...the new features seem interesting. I supposed that's the banker in me coming out!

I'm a fan of the like button at the bottom of each post but not the bars. I think it will be a way for me to say 'ditto' to a post without actually posting.

We installed this modification to use for Gifts.
However, it has tons of other annoying features that I have to turn off.
Bear with it for a few days till I get familiar enough with it to get it just set for gift giving.

We did get a request for the Thank You feature, and that seemed to be a good idea. That will most likely stay. That way you can just click Thank you instead of writing a post.
