    'Cheap' veils

Hi all ;) I'm looking for veils for my students. I'm looking for any kind (fabric wise) but would prefer rectangular veils. What I mean by cheap is not quality wise but a lower price because my students are super baby bellys and not looking to make a serious investment. Let me know what you have: marianabellydance@hotmail.com

    *I'm looking for 3-4

    Thanks!

If you don't find what you need here, the truly cheapest way is to make your own. Depending on where you are, polyester chiffon can be $1 to $2 per yard, and polyester 'silk' not much more. Buy three yards, sew a hem*, and boom--you have a veil to at least use for class. Making veils could even be a fun class bonding activity for your students.

That said, I am always on the lookout for low-cost veils from the swap meet to use as extras in class, too!

*for class I suppose a hem is not essential, and you can always find fabric that does not need not have be hemmed if need be.

    I have these:

    • 3 yd Leaf print veil with shiny/sparkly bits –rectangular. $28
    • 3 yd Blue/purple spotted sheer SILK chiffon. $28
    • Red chiffon scarf pseudo circular. Has silvery-white beading. Great for outdoor work b/c the beading makes it heavier. $35

Hey, I notice that you're in West Chester; my husband grew up in Chester Springs.

Consider emailing Gaylene at lilegypt@aol.com, she sells inexpensive chiffon veils. (www.gaylenesboutique.com) Also www.simplystylish.net (might be www.simplystylish.com, not certain). Many color choices.

My dance teacher sent us to the fabric store to buy 3 yards of chiffon and a bottle of Fray-Check. That way, everyone gets to pick their own (and ambitious students can hand-hem theirs).

If you do it for them, they will just complain about how the veils are overpriced, or about the colors you chose, anyway. Make the students responsible, and they'll be happy with their veils and become more invested in their own dance journey.

I have a few rectangular chiffon veils in the $10 - $15 price range. A couple are brand new, a couple are gently used. I can verify colors and sizes tonight.

If you get poly chiffon you can singe the edges with a candle and "hem" it that way too. The poly melts.
