Nope! The vendor said that the bra didn't actually get shipped until 12/24 and that it could take 14-21 days to arrive. I e-mailed him again about an hour ago because it's still not here. Grrr!

Re: Where can I buy the hard shell bras like the Egyptian Costumes use
The XXL Dina is here! I haven't had a chance to verify measurements yet.
The cups are not so round as those in the "F" size I received back in Dec. A little on the oblong side with the vertical length being a little bit longer than the horizontal. Straps will have to be adjusted...the position is way out to the side which is not unusual for this style. I may replace the band. It's a little bit narrow for me...too much side spillage. This bra is covered in a white poly fabric much like the fabric a fashion bra is made from. The "F" bra cups were only covered in a matt finish fabric, this one has a thin layer of foam between the hard cups and the outer fabric. I imagine this may make covering it a little easier...something other than the hard cup to pierce through.
I've got to run. Will post measurements and pictures of both bra bases later.

I saw some on Ebay! Vendor is "nileart." Probably that's who you ordered from?
I think it would be possible to make these, I believe the high end ones are leather.
You could form them exactly to your body with enough patience and some help, use a plaster mold possibly? That would really be going to town but it would be perfection.Last edited by Elibelinde; 02-08-2012 at 01:08 PM.

Hi Elibelinde - thanks for that - had a quick look at the nileart ebay store and yes, I've seen these ones before on there - also noticed the ones with the fancy edging too.
Yes, a plaster mold could be the way to go but the trouble is my weight fluctuates and so do my boobs :-(
Thanks once again for updating the thread on the bras :-) much appreciated.

Re: Where can I buy the hard shell bras like the Egyptian Costumes use
You can also use glue.
Really high end ones are often made of leather.
Here's the thing though, which I learned from a Turkish dancer/costumer I worked with - it's almost impossible to do fine beadwork, the needles just won't go through the bra.
So, she'd do the beading on separate fabric and then attach the finished beadwork to the bra.
Stones or beads, rhinestone chain etc that doesn't require a beading needle, coins, etc, you can sew through the bra to some degree, using a pliers as mentioned above. It's a really tough job though.
I'm not sure what the advantage is actually. Good lingerie bras, with the foam contour cups, hold up very well and when lined and with fabric on top become quite stiff and sturdy simply due to the beading itself. And, you can design just about any shape, if you buy a bra that is considerably larger than you are in the cups you can cut into them, make floating shapes, just about anything - the key though is the larger size so you'll have room to design.
Anyway, I'm curious as to how this works out with the custom made piece from Egypt!Sophia
