extracting data from external hard drive
you must excuse me if my tech lingo is not accurate..I have an external hard drive with lots of photos and music from ipod on it..problem is, its in arizona ...is there a device, or a way to extract the info from that external hard drive and put it on my current laptop ? thanks!

Yes, if I'm understanding you right, you can get an USB flash drive and it's a piece of cake to use. Really easy for me and I suck on the computer. I sure hope that helps!

Ok, the hard drive is in Arizona, but you're in Hawaii? and it's an external hard drive, not a flash drive or anyhting like that? is it currently connected to a computer in AZ?
I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but with more info, I can give you a more useful answer.

Antimony you are exactly right..external, connected to computer, and is in arizona..
i was hoping a usb would do it :)

Ok, I think I understand now. Yes, you could have someone in AZ connect a USB flash drive to the computer in AZ, copy the data from the hard drive to the flash drive, then mail the flash drive to you in HI.

er...just make sure you get a flash drive with enough memory.
the 2GB ones are about 70$ or so I think if not more.
Also, if you're having someone who is completely computer illiterate - it won't be that easy. If your son's doing it you're probably okay!
