Photo Editing Programs
I've used Paintshop in the past on our PC but it was a very old and *cough* pirated version. Now we have a Mac and I'm looking to go legit. I read on here that quite a few people use/like photoshop but I don't know if that would be overkill for my needs. I want to be able to adjust photos, crop, and possibly retouch backgrounds, etc. Suggestions??

Re: Photo Editing Programs
Free is good.
However, I got PHotoshop Elements when I bought my next to last PC, and it was plenty good even without the bells and whistles of PHotoshop El Jeffe. Then when I decided to upgrade to PHotoshop CS, I bought CS2 because CS3 had just come out and the older version was half the price. It's been a great upgrade for me as an amateur photobug.

Re: Photo Editing Programs
I have Paint shop Pro, Photoshop CS2 and CS4. Paint shop pro was the easiest...but I can do so much more with Photoshop. once you learn it, it isnt that hard. I have also noticed, when I save photos in Photoshop the quality is better then when I did it in PPpro..CS4 has so many overwhelming options..I use is mostly for just processing my new photo files, that won't open up in the older programs

Re: Photo Editing Programs
iPhoto usually comes with a mac, it has some pretty good basic tools for editing pictures... color adjustments, exposure controls, etc. and crop, red eye reducer, touchup tool....
Other than that, all I can recommend is CS4 or maybe pick up elements
