    Video File Compression? Help!

    Hi there,
I would love some help with this matter if anyone has any recommendations......

I have to submit some video homework to someone over email, and my current file is 145MB and I need to compress it to 40-50MB. I have no idea what software is easiest, where to look, etc. Help! Please!

I use Windows Movie Maker to compress my videos, as it's user friendly and comes free on most Windows computers. It won't import a MOD file directly, but according to this article (Convert Camcorder MOD Files to MPG) you can just replace the .mod file extension with .mpg to make it an MPEG file, which can be imported into Movie Maker.

QuickTime Pro (a $30 upgrade last time I checked) offers great compression. Mac or Windows. Just export as MPEG (.mpg or .mpeg).

QuickTime is powers Final Cut Pro and iMovie, which are Mac-only, but is also available on a PC (and probably is on your PC already or you can download from Apple - QuickTime ).

Personally, I value quality and ease of use. (I have both a Mac and a PC on my desk. You can guess which I use most.)
