Opening/converting .DNG image files?

A friend just e-mailed me some photos in Adobe's DNG format. Nothing on my Windows XP machine will open them, as far as I can tell. Guidance, please?

Oh I would so love that!!! So - I am throwing a big drum circle hafla at the White Sands National Monument August 1st. At night - with a bonfire...huge 50 foot sugar like dunes between 2 mountain ranges. The moon comes up over the east range at the same time the sun goes down over the west range... magical!!! Come on down!

Thanks again, but also drat. Now I've got me a converter *to* .dng files, but no converter *from* .dng files. Any other leads, anyone?

Closest I have is .png in photoshop....

If I e-mailed you one of the photos, would you be willing to see if it opens in Photoshop? It seems as if it should. There's a bowl of green chile and a margarita in it for you when next we meet, or name the reward of your choice.
