uploading directly from camera to web?
My students would like me to upload their dances to youtube.
I don't mind doing it, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the footage directly from my video camera (attached by firewire) onto youtube, only saved files or the built-in camera will work.
Saving each individual clip to my hard drive isn't practical. I don't have the hard drive space or the time to process each one -- there's 2 hours of footage here.
Does anyone know of a site or a technique that will let me bypass my hard drive and just save the footage directly to a server?

hm, maybe a low-tech work around with attaching and sending the files via yousendit is a more practical solution? Your students will have to download the files onto their own machines with this path.

That's a good idea, but it would still require that I save the flle to my hard drive first -- and that's what I'm trying to avoid. Thanks for trying, though!

I believe that if you have your camera attached as a device (i.e. visible in the Finder), you should be able to directly access what is on it through the yousendit interface, without the need to save anything on your computer.

Ah. I understand -- but my camera isn't fully digital it's tape with a firewire interface. So the footage isn't on the camera as accessible 'files' it's just one long video. I have to have an interface that lets me play the video through, telling it when to stop and start recording.
I really, really, really thought I remembered being able to do that with youtube in previous years. But I must have been hallucinating.
