Roxio plug and burn to youtube

After much trial and error, sobbing and cussing, I finally was able to convert a VHS to DVD. My first attempt I was green and had no sound. I finally got a decent version but when I uploaded it to youtube it said it was an unrecognisable format and I needed to convert it. I downloaded the free software that was on the youtube link but I'm stymied.

    What do I do?

It's even more complicated then I thought. I can't even copy my dvd onto my hard drive? WTF? I can't find Windows Explorer. When I have the option to browse, it freezes at my D drive. GRRRRR. I've been attempting to do this since April and I'm getting too darn frustrated.

How have you converted VHS to DVD? Was there a step in between that converted VHS to some sort of digital file on the hard disc?

Ahh ok Roxio converts the VHS to MPEG-2 first. I'm suprised youtube doesn't recognised MPG files.

Now I'm assuming you are using a Mac since the Roxio only works on Macs. I think you should be able to import the MPG file into imovies, I think that's what it's called, and export it has another video format like MP4.

I'm using a PC, with Windows XP. After I converted the VHS tape to digital it was VTS?

I had to use a converter software to change it to an mp4 file. It's called any video converter professional. I used the free evaluation version which allows you to convert a 3 minute clip. Looks like now I'll have to buy it.

Hmm well you could cheat and rename the VOB file on the DVD to mpg and see if that works.

Actually that's what it was a VOB file. Youtube wouldn't take it. I never tried the cheat way!

Just an update, renaming the vob file to mpg sort of works

    Hi

I use a stand alone vcr to dvd sylvania that works really well then I load to my PC for conversion to MPG4 Which I do load on to youtube all the time. I use Roxio 9 but I do have to make sure that I allow it to use the MP4 file type otherwise it hangs. Any program that does not have the boxes checked next to the file type you want to use will not convert to that and will hang. This action would be found in tools-options-preferences. I also download every free video audio codec I can get my greedy little hands on.
Yes I have spent many a night banging my head on my comp screen.

Changing VOB doesn't always work after changing it to MPG. I tried it too, and it only worked one time. Any other time it wouldn't upload to YouTube.

Re: Roxio plug and burn to youtube

So I have to reply here again. I have used roxio since its creation. I have roxio 9 now. I just had to reformat my main drive-AGAIN. I have 2 hard drives, one is 160 gig and the other is 400. Every time I allow windows to upgrade to a certain point my roxio stops working. So now I only allow internet explorer to upgrade to 6, I use firefox. I only allow windows media player to upgrade to 9. I turned off my windows upgrade program and am very careful about any other upgrades to my main drive. I use this Roxio software ALOT and windows upgrades have a tendancy to cause malfunctions in foreign software. I realize this sounds paranoid but after the second reformat because of this I am fully aware of the damage that windows upgrades can do. Have your main drive reformatted or get an external HD with JUST roxio on it. I store all of my media files on the large drive and have Roxio installed on an extended logical drive on the large Hard drive. Hope that makes sense.

    I say this because my Roxio stopped responding to Meg-2 and 4 and I could not get any of the video plugins I have to work. I tried everything. Youtube upload program for me only works if I use the single format w/ NO progress bar.,r:;

Funnily enough, my uploads to YouTube work only when I don't use the Flash Player. For some reason, on my computer, Flash Player is the default. After much headbanging, I started looking for small print and found what I needed.

There's a lot of information in small print. . .
