My friend Isidriel is a big bhuzer, she absolutly loves it. I, on the other hand, can not find myself around. I know some other people that are on bhuz, but I can't find them. I don't have the time to browse through every member in the "member" button. I tried to put my costumes up for sale, couldn't firgure it out- my friend did it for me. Now I would like to change the questions in my profile, they don't save. (Although that's still a problem because of the up-date) Does anybody else feel the same way?

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems but Bhuz is NOT really hard to use. You just need to get yourself familiar with it first. If you want to find someone or something, use the search. Everything you could want to find is under the blue tabs up top. Best of luck with your Bhuzing. ..g.: and if you need help, ask us. We like helping!

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Actually, I don't. I have been using forums for 13+ years and have seen many different formats, including several format changes on another forum I visit regularly. I find Bhuz easy to use compared to most. For instance, I really like the "Today's Post" feature (under Quick Links) and I like that I can customize how I want to view forum threads.
It's never occurred to me to browse through all the members, so I can't comment on that, but wouldn't that be a factor of the number of members, rather than the format?
That said, any new format takes some getting used to, and, as Michelle said, posters here are usually more than willing to help out.
And, in the end, I think it's the people, moreso than the format, that make a forum what it is.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
I'm very computer inept but have been on this forum for a very long time. I think it just takes time to find your way around. It's definitely worth taking the time though....I've learned so much here!
And just to prove my ineptness...Laura, what is Quick Links, Mark Forums? A girl's gotta know ;))

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
In the forum menu, on the left between Home and Media, there's a selection called Quick Links. Click on it and you'll get a drop down of more options, one of which is Mark Forums Read. What it does is treat every thread in the forum at that moment as if you have already clicked on it and read the content. So that way, if there are a bunch of threads in New Posts that you don't care about, if you Mark Forums Read they will not show up the next time you load New Posts, unless the thread has been updated with additional posts.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
<computer nerd hat on> The problem you're experiencing is not with Bhuz, it is with the free software package that is used to run Bhuz, called vbulletin. To some degree I actually agree - vbulletin is far from perfect, just like pretty much every piece of software we use. Changing things would be a very costly operation, and chances are that one is stuck with a different set of limitations.<computer nerd hat off>
Hope you will find it worth the effort of climbing up that first steep part of the learning curve.

Welcome to Bhuz!
I hope you manage to navigate easier, once you get used to it.
I have problems sometimes, but I LOVE BHUZ!!! AND ALL THE BHUZZERS!!!
I've learned a LOT, and have been helped in many ways here!
(((HUGS!)))
:-)
(Maybe you could ask your friends on bhuz, what their usernames are?)
BTW
I've had trouble loading pics here on Bhuz (pixel size to big), so I posted pics on my Tribe.net, and linked it here.
I used to be able to reduce the size with photoshop, but my new computer doesn't have it.Last edited by gothique; 02-28-2010 at 04:54 AM. Reason: BTW

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Yeah well I suppose trying to find people you actually know is not as easy as like Facebook or something. I think that is also because people have chosen not to use their real names
Not sure about this costume thing because I have never posted in the for sale section.
But I would have to agree with you. I think Tribe.net and Facebook is easier to let you upload photos. With Bhuz I have noticed that the link to get you to the front on the website once you are within the forum is buried at the bottom.
Common website design would make the banner up the top clickable to the front page of Bhuz and hence easy access to your profile page.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Although I am not (or ever will be) a computer genius, I found that navigating through Bhuz is not too difficult. Even though I am still learning the "nooks & crannies" of Bhuz (i.e. Quick Links, Marks Forum), I still have a heck of a time navigating through a social/networking site like FB. Bhuz is a piece of cake in my book.

Actually come to think of it, I don't understand why if you are trying to view photos from one member it then shows you photos from other members.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Hi Birdielee,
If you look up the top right where it says "Welcome Birdielee" you will see a search function.
If you can get your friends Bhuz names, you can put their user name in the search box and if they have posts, it will list posts by that person.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
to Bhuz Joumana. Bhuz takes a little getting used to. I have been on other forums (not all bellydance related) and Bhuz seems to be a little easier than most. There are a lot of functions to learn but are great once you learn them. If you ever need help or have questions, we are always happy to help.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Can I just suggest that, regardless of whether bhuz is or isn't user-friendly, that titling your thread "bhuz is very user-unfriendly" is probably not the most diplomatic choice of words?

Joumana, welcome to Bhuz!

When I first joined, I found navigation difficult. (And I have found posting pix challenging, which is why I post on photobucket and transfer from there.) Now it's like an old friend. ..g.:
Hope you enjoy your browsing here. Be sure to ask questions.. we love to help.

Re: Bhuz is very user-unfriendly
Hey Joumana - you not only have all of these nice Bhuzzers to help you . . . just pick up a phone and call me girl!!! I'll talk you through whatever! I was a little confused at first, but it just takes a little patience, and honestly, I find Facebook more weird and confusing and you're great at that. Hope you'll learn to love it here, sweetie.
