Agraphobia awaits
My satnav has broken. I have the navigational instincts of a cat with a 30 second memory. It worked last time I used it, and I pushed the off button (it is a tom tom), then it wouldn't ever switch on again. I wish I could 'take the battery out' and somehow reset it, but it's all internal and I can't get at any stored power source. The only sign of life on it, is if I stick it in the charger, when the green charge light lights up.
It was bought for me as a present last December, so I doubt we've got receipts or anything.
Help me, I need to leave the house !

don't know what model you have, but maybe this will help. [scroll down to step by step instructions to reset tom tom]

It worked ! It worked! Even though the reset 'button' was a tiny hole hidden under other fixings, with no markings around it.
I am free, free I tell you.

Once your TOM TOM battery has gone..,.that's it. It's extremely expensive to replace it. The secret of prolonging your battery life it to never ever let it run down. Always use the car charger with the unit even when it's brand new. Keep it on perpetual charge day and night.

ooh, thanks for that. though I live in Central City area and not sure I can leave the thing in my car as it will get pinched. It is a pity there is no home charger for it...

I am still recovering from my sonic toothbrush dying, and my CD player, all in the same week as the TOM TOM incident. Must have been the full moon.

oops
Caroline:
When I saw your headline I thought - someone's afraid of farms?
So I had to go look it up - another of those U.K. v. American spelling thingies I suppose:
"What is Agraphobia?
Defined as "a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of sexual abuse", each year this surprisingly common phobia causes countless people needless distress."

No I'm a bit dyslexic. Though I regard it as a special skill rather than a 'dys' - for example I am the only one I know who can read my b/f's text messages and know what they mean (he is much worse than me), I also store my receipts and my recipies in the same file, as it makes no odds to me :-)
