YouTube question: ratings/likes&dislikes

Just noticed that YouTube has a thumbs up/thumbs down (ie, like/dislike) function...I know that you can disable whether or not someone can rate your video, but is there a way to disable this?

I'm really starting to debate whether to completely switch over to Vimeo

YouTube is great for visibility, but I'm starting to get really sick of stuff like the "like" buttons. It doesn't even appear that you can opt out of that, either. WTF? I have ratings disabled and comments moderated for a reason.

My web guy far prefers Vimeo because the quality of the videos is far better. As soon as I get ready to put some video on my website, I think I'll make the switch to Vimeo. All I want is a nice place where clients can see what I do, not a forum where any idiot can opine ,r:;

I just took a look too. If you go in under My videos and click edit under one, you can scroll down to Comment Voting, Video Responses and Rating to turn them all off. There must be some issue right now b/c when I hit save I kept getting an error message.

I know, just noticed that recently. FB & Google are taking over everying I guess.
AFter I noticed them I scrolled thru a few of my vids to see what was happening with the likes & dislikes, and got a few chuckles. I just chalk it up to 1. variety of tastes
2. anonymity
and, it's so easy to click on the buttons, no explanation required, unlike those tiresome "comment" boxes where you have to use actual words ..l;,

Does this mean that like/dislike now = rating (5 stars)????

I have ratings (the stars, I think....thought) disabled, but I still have the darned thumbs
