Problem w/ pdf upload/download from website
Hey techno-geeks:
I am trying to get a pdf link on my website. I have the pdf on the server, but when I use my browser to try to download the file, it won't open, and adobe acrobat tells me it is corrupted or not decoded properly
Here is the page in question.
http://www.siuc.edu/~mede/events.html
Can someone try to download the "Workshop information and registration form" and see if you can open it. It should download a pdf called "LaurenWorkshop.pdf" (which it does for me, I just can't open it). (my original pdf that I uploaded works fine)
here's what I'm using:
Mac OS 10.4.10
browser = firefox
pdf made in acrobat 6.0 professional

That's what Safari with Acrobat 6 on 10.3.9 says: File does not begin with "%Pdf-"
Won't open in Preview, either.

I tried it and also got the message about the file being corrupt in some way. Maybe open the original, re-save it in a new location on your hard drive, and try uploading again?

Hi - I tried it and got the error message "the file does not start with %pdf" which is odd, as I thought files just had to end with .pdf - perhaps there is something funky about the way you have named this file, can you try and name it something really simple and see if that works?

<geek lecturing>The error message above isn't about the file name, which is fine - it's about the file contents.</geek lecturing> Sorry, sometimes I can't help doing that ;-)
I'd try from the program used to generate the file to do print and save as pdf (the poor girl's way to make pdf - I ain't have Acrobat Pro), assuming that it's a straight-forward file without bells and whistles.
