Photo editing software. Help please.

What is the easiest, best photo editing software to do simple things like fix eyes, take out backgrounds, maybe erase sweat, not too much complicated stuff. I am a computer illiterate. Photoshop sounds a bit above my head.

photoshop seems the best for all of that. how much do you need exactly done i might be able to help depending on what exactly

Corel Paint Shop pro does those things and is much much cheaper than photoshop.
You can also use Picnik.com. They have those features at monthly costs so save up all your photos and do them all at once.

Thanks for the offer to help. I got a coworker to help me get started today. We went to Picnik.com. She showed me some of the things it can do, woo-hoo! I will investigate Paint Pro software.

There's a lower-cost version of Photoshop for the consumer market called "Photoshop Elements." I haven't personally used it, but my husband uses it and likes it.

There's also something called Adobe Fireworks that I have not personally used, but I have a friend who uses it and likes it. I think it was created by another company that Adobe eventually bought. It has a lower price point than Photoshop as well.

My favourite (but there is a PC version only and not a Mac version--sob!), is Irfan View.

I'm using an old version of Photoshop Elements. It works well, but some things are just easier to do in Paint Shop Pro. Other things are easier in Elements. Whatever!

GIMP I've never been able to make sense of - it has many followers, so I'm sure its good, but its approach to doing things is counter intuitive to *me*.

Another vote here for GIMP. I found it hard to use at first, but there is *a lot* of online info, video tutorials, etc. I think there is always a pretty steep learning curve for some of this kind of specialist software...
