    Just got a new iMac!!!

And I'm so excited!! I've never owned a Mac before. The closest I've come to it is an iPod. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out how to work it! Wish me luck... I may be back with questions. ..l;,

YAY! Congrats! I just bought my macbook (first mac, always been a PC girl) this summer and I LOVE my mac. My friend is super mac savvy, and when she shows me stuff, I'm always astounded that it's that logical and user-friendly. What takes 3-4 steps with a PC only takes 1-2 with a mac (for most things). If you find cool tips or anything, do share! I signed up for a mac-tip-a-day (I think it's a widget on the mac website that you download) and it has some helpful hints and stuff.

Now, I just wish i could figure out how to get my iPod stuff transferred over. I already transferred my "purchases". Is there anyway to transfer all the other CDs and music that I've got on there without having to just re-load all the songs?

my favorite mac tool is using the F9 key to see all of the websites I have open at once--sometimes I can't remember what I have open so I can F9 and see them all in small size on the screen. Then I just click on the one I want.
I have an older iBook G4 and hubby has a macbook.

Welcome to the world of apple. It's cool.

I got an Mac for my birthday and I still haven't figured out how to cut and paste. I'm basically computer inept so I'm really struggling figuring stuff out.

What I did was take an external hard drive (like one that's really small and plugs into your...um...port thingie. Sorry don't know the names because I'm super tech illiterate!). You can buy some that store about 8-10 GB on them and they're as small as your finger, so I loaded all my songs on there from my old computer and uploaded them into my itunes folder on my new mac. Worked just fine! Took a few trips since I had 20 GB on my old computer, but all my songs are now there!

All you should have to do is hi-lite the stuff you want, press the "ctl" key and then "c" at the same time (this is to copy. To "cut" hit "ctl" and "x" at the same time), then to paste you move the cursor to where you want to paste and hit "ctl" and "v"

Thanks Summer! I'll give that a try. Hubby went out and got me a 160GB External HD the same day that the computer arrived. Wish I had thought of that sooner!!

I've had a mini Mac since they first came out a couple of years ago. Love it.
My daughter has a mini Mac as well. Our old PC still sits on it's little computer table looking forlorn from lack of use.

    Regards

If you have a mouse with a right and left click, it works just the same as a PC.

Welcome to the world of Mac - I've never used anything else because I'm e-tarded. If I can use a Mac ANYONE can. I make a lot of use out of "help" in the top menu, btw. Don't be afraid to use it! ..l;,

Re: Just got a new iMac!!!

Lifetime PC girl, two year Mac convert! I am always telling my friends that I understand why Mac users always seemed so cultish in their love: I have drunk the Kool-Aid now! I am always urging my friends who don't have them to consider them. I was adamant I didn't want one, and hubby talked me into it when I had some inheritance money to spend a couple years back. Got a Powerbook, which immediately replaced my PC in nearly every way.

I always say I never truly "loved" a computer before. I liked them, enjoyed them, appreciated them. But my Mac...it was love at first sight, and the sound of it booting up still makes me smile. :)

This last year I bought an iMac to finally put the old PC out to pasture. It essentially functions as a server for old files and a music player for when I go down to my basement studio to sew. I adore my Macs and truly believe everyone should convert! LOL

Macs are great! We love them here. My husband used to refuse to own a PC till his most recent job requires the use of them.
