Wavy lines go away! Graphics card problem?

Since last night there are wavy blue lines across the screen of my PC on all applications. The PC will only open on safe mode. I'm using safe+networking at the moment.
Dead graphics card? Overheating? Something else?
Any ideas much appreciated.

I have no idea what could be causing that. Hardware? Software? Are any of your system restore points still good? Did you try downloading and reinstalling your graphics card's driver?

Thanks, yes I'd already tried both system restore and reinstalling the latest drivers for the graphics card (NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT) but nothing's changed and the wavy blue lines are still in control :-(
Possibly its a PSU issue which could tie in with any overheating of the graphics card. The IT guy from work is coming round over the weekend to have a look at it. He's been bribed with the promise of a good dinner LOL.

Problem solved with a trip to the Computer Souq and a new graphics card.

Have the same graphics card with the same problem. Glad to know it fixed your issue, what did you replace it with? I'm looking for something comparable that doesn't cost a arm and leg.
