Journaling software on a Mac?

Thought I would ask and see if anyone has recommendations. My mom is looking for something.

She doesn't want anything online, like Livejournal or anything-- it would just be private for her. And preferably free, though if it's not too expensive I'd just buy it for her.

She sent me names of some possibilities but I haven't had a chance to look into them yet nor to do any Googling on my own; thought first I'd ask if anyone here has anything they've used and liked and might recommend.

I'll have to ask her exactly what features she wants, but she said using Word isn't working out for her, so what I assume is that she wants something where she can make separate entries instead of one big document. I don't think she needs anything too fancy beyond that or it'd just be clunky and confusing for her.

I tend to do all my journaling on paper-- I like the speed of typing but I can't get away from liking the feel of a book in my hand-- so I've never really read up on what's out there.

I use Scrivener for my writing projects. I absolutely love it, although it might be a bit high powered and expensive for a journal - it depends on what she wants to do with it long term...
