dance & music workshop in Istanbul
ALATURKA!
Istanbul Turkey August 27th - Sept 4th, 2007
Our third Alaturka festival is shaping up nicely with students from Asia, Europe and North America joining in on the fun! It is so much fun being with a melting pot of dancers and musicians from such diverse places - we don't all speak the same language but we all understand each other very well! We have the very special honor of presenting Nesrin Tokapi as one of our instructors this year- perhaps Turkey's most famous and certainly beloved bellydancers. This is a rare opportunity and we certainly are very lucky to have her along with Birgul - the Orient House's top dancer for many years (and very talented and charming!) Reyhan Tuzsuz - a phenomenly talented Romany (Gypsy) dancer, Sehnaz - true Turkish old school style, Bulent Kurtisoglu - a respected professor of Romany (Gypsy and Turkish Folk Dances) our own Artemis Mourat and Tayyar Akdeniz and, for the Egyptophiles we have two highly respected experts in the field - Nourhan Sharif and Sahra Saeeda!
