Thread: Miami Bellydance Convention 2009

Who is going?
Which workshops are you planning to take?
Are you thinking about entering the competition?

I am taking my 2 weeks vacation and will fly from Montreal to attend this convention... I can't wait!
Sun + bellydance = very happy me! ..l;,

Plus, my mom is coming with me (she's been dancing for 1 year now), so it's going to be great. I will definitely take workshops with Bozenka, Ava Fleming and Mira Betz.

I'm quite a newbie, so I'm not so sure about competing...

I cannot wait!

This sounds great to me. I'm seriously considering going, but won't know for sure for a couple months. I love Miami :)

if i can get a couple of friends to come w/me for the weekend, i MIGHT go. which reminds me, i have to ask them about it
but if i were to go, i'd probably do the vip weekend pass and do all the workshops. i was considering competing but decided against it

Seriously thinking of going. Saida actually teaching in North America ? Hard to resist.

i'm lusting after this...there is no way i can attend but i'm going to be there in spirit ; )

The VIP is only (?) $349 until March 20, which is actually a great price since you can attend 3 workshops daily for 3 days and enjoy all the shows!

Plus, I booked a room at the Intercontinental (hotel where the convention is held) for less than advertised on the website. I booked through easyclicktravel is anyone is interested... and paid about $90/night.

I'm going for sure and for sure I will be attending Saida's workshops., these are to die for!

saida is one of my faves! her and nathalie..omg, so graceful!

thanks for the info on the hotel maeva, i still really wanna go and i figured if i had a good group of friends to come w/me for the weekend that my parents would let me go but we'll see, so far no one can stay for the whole weekend or doesn't want to (which is beyond me if u ask haha)

i am considering going as well...perhaps take Saida, Yamul, Bozenka and Nathalie workshops...Said is one of my favs.

dont know anything about this competition but dancing to live music is my fav so i might consider it...soon.

I'll be there! I'm taking both of Saida's and Tamra-henna's workshops. Both are amazing teachers. I'm also taking classes with Bozenka, Nathalie, and Roshanna.

I did not know that they will have a competition... Anyways I'm not going to compete this year... I have plans to go to at least one competition next year...

I'm so happy that Ansuya has been added to the line up! I'm waiting to see what classes she will be teaching. Nathalie said she would update the website this weekend. I hope she will not be teaching the same time as Saida and Tamra-henna.

I really want to take a workshop with Bozenka but the schedule just isn't working for me ;(
I honestly do not mind the workshops with Yamil Annum, but I will take them since there's nothing else that interests me during that time... Hopefully that's when they'll schedule Ansuya's workshops! :)

Nathalie said she was going to add Ansuya to the line up this weekend. I just checked and she's not up yet. Here are the classes I'm planning to take, but will make changes once I see when/what Ansuya is teaching.

Highlights of Gypsy Sugar Choreography by Ansuya!
This fun and challenging workshop highlights some of the sassiest, edgiest, and most rockin’ parts of the Gypsy Sugar show as seen at this years Miami Bellydance Convention Gala Show! Ansuya and Gypsy Sugar members Inara and Tamara will be leading the class, with special guest drummer Ozzy! Bring a cane and a sword if you have one, but don’t worry if you don’t! The combinations can be learned with, or without props. All levels welcome!

Ah well, it's at the same time than one of Saida's workshop, I think I'll stick to Saida.
