Thread: bellydance in chicago

hi everyone...
can someone recommend a good place to go to see bellydancers perform in a middle eastern restaurant/hookah bar type setting? thanks

I'd recommend Jiliana's in Chicago wholeheartedly, tell them Kim sent you. Albert is the owner and he sings to his live band, house dancer comes out twice a night on the weekends, people dance, eat, drink, smoke hookahs. Wonderful place.

Actually since the smoking ban, there's nowhere to drink & smoke hookah (legally). There are lots of places to eat, drink and see belly dancers; Al Hambra, Julianna's, Arkadash, and a few smaller places like Tizi Melluol, Ala Turka. Hope that helps. When are you planning a trip here? Maybe I can meet you somewhere. I love to meet fellow bhuzzers when they pop into town. Sadly I missed Ezma the last time she was here. :-(

I agree with the previous posters. Julianna's is a good place to check out. They have a great band, and an awesome bellydancer there. You can have dinner, drinks, and hookah there too. As mentioned, Alhambra is a good place to check out too for dinner and bellydancing. I do believe Arkadash is no longer open.

illegally like alot of other places. I like King Tut's on Lawrence too but it's byob.

I don't really know. I think either day is fine. I was there just last Friday. I believe the bellydancer(Vanessa) dances both Friday and Saturday.

Someone told me it was closing, I believe it was about two months ago or so when I heard it.

I swear I saw people doing hookah last week when I was at Julianna's. So like Summer said, illegally I guess.

I believe she starts about 10PM. I don't think there is a cover, you just have to buy dinner or drinks. I was already there from when I performed in Dahlena's show earlier that evening.
