Thread: What's Up in Orlando & Cocoa Beach Sept. 3-7?

Scary stuff....my boyfriend and I are going house hunting in Cocoa the first weekend of September .w.:

Everyone's probably going to the Miami BD Intensive that weekend, but I thought I'd see what else might be happening. I definitely plan on checking out some of Suspira's classes. Anything else going on? Are there any vendors I should check out? Would love to meet some fellow Bhuzzers and possible future neighbors!

And where are some good places for photo shoots? You know my boyfriend never travels without a camera and I go nowhere without costumes ,r:;

I'm from Gainesville but regularly travel to Orlando for belly dance-related stuff.

Suspira could fill you in on a lot of the happenings around Orlando - she is super cool and very nice! You should call to see where she and her girls might be performing while you are in town. She has a little shop with costumes and accessories too. I am certain she could suggest some great photo shoot locations or could put you in touch with someone who does!

Hope you enjoy your time here! I will be passing through the Orlando area when you are there, but won't have much time. Hopefully we can meet up when you come back to visit and/or move here!

Suspira seems like such a doll. I'm really excited to meet her and take some of her classes!

I have to say, all the Florida girls I've met on Bhuz seem like a nice bunch. Every time I get depressed about the possibility of moving, I think about the nice dance scene in Orlando. Sounds like there's a lot going on!

wouldnt it be fun to just go on a girls photoshoot tour? LOL....just get everyone together and drive to different areas and do pics....

I'll be in Orland this weekend. I know Stellar Advantage is having their event. Im not sure if I will make that or not. But I am on the look out for fun things to do and see.

A photo shoot road trip would be amaaaaaazing. I know my guy Stacy and I have been planning our vacations based on photo ops. We've got our eyes on Red Rock Canyon in Vegas, too.

Red Rock Canyon is fabulous. So is the Valley of Fire (also near Vegas). There are lots of desert scenes here. If you want even more ideas, you could join the LVBellydancers yahoogroup and the locals can fill you in on all the juicy stuff.

We can definitely do a hook up while you're here. Did you already talk to Zana? Maybe we could do a little local group with some of the troupe members and local dancers? Hmm. I'm getting lots of ideas now.

If you want to check out local dancers, there's an Argentine restaurant where the studio girls perform on the weekends, there's OPA and I believe you can catch one of our Bollywood instructors on Thursday nights. Zana is more in the know. Ha, ha.

Right now we're getting ready for our big show in October and it takes us months! There aren't many workshops to check out. Bummer.

Good places to photograph:

Lock Haven Park has a few interesting spots (and free) as does Leu Gardens with its beautiful rose garden. If you're willing to go off the beaten path, I'd also recommend Bok Tower Gardens.

Yes! Opa!! If you like great Greek food, definitely go to Taverna Opa and bring your dancin' shoes [authentic Greek table dancing included/expected ;) ] Shiraz Grill is also on I-Drive and caters to the Arabic folks with live singer on the weekends and of course, belly dancing.

Yay! Would love to hang out, Mayliz. Zana and I talked a little on Facebook. I told her I'll let y'all know as soon as my travel plans are confirmed.

My guy Stacy and I found that it'll be $200 cheaper to fly later in the month, so we're probably gonna do the weekend of the 17th-21st. Hopefully we can arrange for a little night out! It's definitely encouraging to see that there are so many cool girls in Orlando....I've been alternating between depression and excitement when it comes to leaving my native New England. Meeting nice people definitely helps the transition ,r:;
