It was a delightful surprise today to receive a complementary copy of the latest issue of Shimmy-In The Spirit of Bellydance Magazine as it contains a wonderful review of the 2009 Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive.

The article mentions bhuzzer, Amira, as one of the beautiful Saturday performers; and bhuz members Estela, Lotus Niraja & the NDC, & myself are showcased in the photos that appear with the article.

The review sums up the event by saying it is "a wonderful way to step away from everyday life and into the exciting worlds of both bellydance and Las Vegas for a weekend of nonstop dance, solid entertainment, and a lot of fun."

We sure are getting a lot of great press these days. There is another fabulous review of the 2009 Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival that was just published in the latest issue of The Chronicles Magazine.

Again, there were Bhuzzers featured in the article. Aisha of Greece's performance in the Friday show was mentioned. Leyla Amir, Lotus Niraja & the NDC, & Estella's performances were in the section about the Saturday show. Jim Boz and Amaya's classes were reviewed.

There are over 2 pages of color photos including pictures of the following Bhuz members: Amira, Samira (myself), Estela, Jim Boz, Amaya, Lotus Niraja & the NDC, and Leyla Amir.

Additionally, in the same issue, there is a review of the American Legends in Belly Dance DVD Release Party (aka the after-party). Again, Samira (myself) and Amaya were mentioned.

We are on the verge of announcing the full 2010 schedule for the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival. Those who are already registered will be allowed to choose their classes in the next day or two.

Once our shopping cart goes live on January 1st, the price for the full package will increase to our early bird rate of $475. Register before January 1st to lock in the lowest rates of the year. Attend the 2010 event for only $415, or opt to take advantage of our payment plan and make 9 payments of $46.67.

Headlining at the event: Princess Farhana, Asharah, Fahtiem, John Compton, Aradia, Moria Chappell, and Uncle Mafufo. Additionally, we have a plethora of amazing featured instructors this year...including Samira Shuruk of DC (on Bhuz), Hannan Sultan of North Carolina (on Bhuz), Carrie Konyha of Sedona, Karen Barbee of Texas, Lotus Niraja of DC (on Bhuz), Amaya of New Mexico (on Bhuz), Artemisia of Belgium (on Bhuz), and many others. 2010 Pro-Show Auditions for the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive

We are always on the lookout for talented performers of ALL different styles. We want to produce the best show possible with a wide range of talented artists. Diversity is the name of the game for us. We tend to get a lot of submissions for soloists, but less submissions for troupes & duos. We get a fair amount of oriental submissions but less tribal fusion, ATS, or folkloric submissions to consider.

You do not need to submit a video of your actual choreography or performance. What we want to see is how dynamic you can be on stage. Your submission video does not need to be limited in terms of time; however, your actual performance in our show will be strictly limited to 5 minutes or less.

it's a quicktime thing that tries to open, and as i dont seem to have that format on my computer, it blocks... or it brought me to a quicktime download page, and then similarly froze. i think it's cause it's trying to download/open more content than the work memory of my laptop (and other laptops) can handle.

Pro-show audition deadline is today. If you fill out the online submission form, I will give you a day or two to get us the video. Whoot!

Yes, the website is doing the same thing for me too. But I don't even get the quicktime player, all I get is a big blank square and then everything freezes.

Ok...I've removed the quicktime player from the home page. Hopefully that will make a difference for you. I can't replicate the issue on my end. I've tried on 2 different laptops and multiple browsers. But I'm just going to trust that it was the quicktime player as that was the latest change prior to hearing this issue.

We are excited to announce our panel of celebrity judges for the new "Think You Can Belly Dance?" Contest that will be held during the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival. Whoot!! Each of these ladies will give live feedback during the competition.

Tis true! Our festival performances spots on Saturday are now full. Sunday is more than half full. I suspect that our entire festival will be full by the end of May if not sooner. If you are intending on performing but you haven't filled out the online form, then you should consider registering today!

We would like to thank Mher of the Hollywood Music Center for giving us the music rights to this fabulous piece of music by Dr. Samy Farag. Visit Hollywood Music Center to purchase the CD, Midnight Magic.

Technically, we've past our early-bird deadline; however, our IT Director had surgery and hasn't been able to change our shopping cart due to her recovery. As a result, we are going to honor any early bird full package registrations until June 25th.

We are also super excited that our Saturday and Sunday morning yoga warm up sessions are going to be taught by Swami Ramananda. He's our local yoga teacher to the stars, and even Elton John has attended his classes. Read more about him here: Swami Ramananda. ..g.:

Additionally, we are excited to have master percussionist, Richard Kashanski, joining our teaching staff. He will be teaching in our new drum track. This particular group of classes is going to be great and has classes that are focused on exploring the interaction between drummer and dancer. :thumbs_up:

We are very lucky to have Cera Byer joining us as a member of the choreography team. Cera will be teaching the contestants the fusion choreography for the contest as well as helping run the auditions on Thursday night of the Intensive.

Cera Byer holds a degree in Dance from SFSU and has taught at high schools, studios, workshops, and retreats around the US and abroad. Her technical approach comes from continuing exploration into Graham, Horton, and Dunham techniques, alongside Kathak, Persian, Bellydance, Hip Hop, Funk,
and Afro-Caribbean traditions, but her choreography is anything but a dry academic approach to fusion. Cera's work has been called "a hot sweaty tribute that will have audiences and dancers alike moving and moved by the material", and "organic evolving studies into the biospheres of human emotion". Cera owns and operates Shoebox Studio in San Francisco and is the founder and director of Damage Control Dance Theater.
