    Belly Dance Shopping in NYC

Hey all...I'm not sure if there's already a post on this somewhere that I'm just not seeing, but I was wondering if anyone knows of stores/addresses in NYC to do some BD shopping? I'm specifically looking for a place that would sell wings, but would definitely like to know what is out there in general. Thanks!

I don't know where to get wings- but Nourhan and Yousry Sharif vend at their studios in NYC, I believe.
Rashid's music is in Brooklyn and worth a visit.

go to the fashion district, in the 30's and around 3rd ave. there are tons of places where you can get sequins, and jewelry cheap.

Let me just correct a little bit...the fashion district where you can buy sequins and jewelery and other glittery fun is in the 30's, but not on 3rd Avenue...it's on 6th Avenue, spilling west towards 7th and 8th where the fabric stores are. There's an amazing place called M&J Trimmings that makes me wish I could sew. If you go to 3rd Avenue in the 30's, you'll find the very bland, dull enclave of Murray Hill...not very fun or sparkly at all!

There's also a lovely small boutique run by a dancer, down on Broome Street off of Orchard in the Lower East Side. It's called Hello Sari. She sells some bellydance stuff, and other pretty things.

If you're into Indian fabrics and jewelery, you can go to Curry Hill (Lexington Ave around 28th-29th St., in Manhattan) and Jackson Heights in Queens (7, R, E to Roosevelt Avenue). That's the motherlode!

    Have fun!

    For wings see Ayshe http://www.wingsofayshe.com/wings_shop.html

She has the best wings and does custom work. Since you'll be in the city you can probably meet with her to look at different fabric samples etc.,

www.decotach.com custom makes skirts and costumes in NY

If you make it out to Long Island you can visit Topkapi. They have a boutique there. www.topkapidesigns.com
