Thread: Bellydancers to see in Cairo in Oct 09?

Hi,

We're going to Cairo on 5th October for 3 weeks and would like to see as many bellydancers as possible, and costume designers!

Is anybody able to recommend who we must absolutely see, and where they're performing at the moment? I've seen Dina, Soraya, Leila, Noa, Randa and Lucy in the past, would be happy to see them again but wouldn't mind going to see new ones..

Ditto costume designers - love Mahmoud's and Hanan and Eman Zaki - anyone else we shouldn't miss?

Don't know where she is performing, but I recommend Asmahan!!! She does a very dramatic and high energy show . . . I've seen her twice (Nile Group Festival 2008 and Dallas 2009) and really enjoyed it both times.

Semiramis: Dina, Kamilia and Katia, at least they were there before ramadan. As the high season is over now, they might not have dancers every night anymore.

Nile Maxim: Argentinian Asmahan, Randa, American Leila and Portuguese Joana Saahirah

Nile Pharaoh: Leila again, Scottish Lorna Gow, and apparently Finnish Outi is back

Grand Hyatt (the boat): Kamilia and Nancy, both Egyptian

Marriott: Soraia

City Stars: Soraia again

Masr Siaha: Egyptian dancers, the only one I know is worth watching is Nesma, she is really good and apparently one of Eman Zaki`s favourites.

And Fatima, known from the Nile festival, apparently dances in Haram street, Aida Nour would know if you call her.

There is also a Randa at Pyramisa Hotel, but NOT Randa Kamel. All I know about her is that she barely moves and wears Sahar costumes ..g.:

As for designers, Sahar Okasha is totally undefeated in my opinion, both regarding the quality of her work and her professionalism. AND her price range is not as out-of-reach as earlier years.

No don't, my costume experience with her was an expensive disaster

Thanks so much for your replies! I think Hallah is probably out of our price range, unless she is the same price range as Hanan! I've seen some on the Bellydance Superstars so I bet they're not cheap.

Thanks for the info on the dancers - has anyone seen Liza Laziza and know where she dances? And Dandesh, does she dance too anymore?
