Thread: Raqia Hassan's Winter Intensive

Did anybody go to the winter intensive last year? Any reviews? Would you recommend going this year?

Thanks for telling me! I am not so into the idea of a marathon of teachers.

I was thinking of going to this, but came to the same conclusion as Zenubia .....

Thank you so much for the honest feedback Zenubia. I have been to Ahlan wa Sahlan many times and Nile group many times and still find myself more drawn to the Nile group festivals. The teachers are great and you can't beat the price. I have wanted to try the winter intensive, but thanks to your feedback and other's I have talked to, it does sound a bit too intensive for my taste. And as much as I love Raqia, her events are so overpriced in my opinion.

I think I might be going for just half of the festival and then I'll take private lessons for a few days. I would go in Feb, but December looks better for me.

Private classes always are the best ones.
Hannan if you are thinking the Raqia's winter thing, I don't think you can take only some days. I might be wrong, but if you go to there you have to take everything or nothing. Also for the last few years the place have been outside of Cairo, so the partisipants had to stay in that hotel.

I managed to get the travel agent to give me a price on individual days - still pricey, but a better deal for my needs. I want to be there with some type of festival for the fun factor.
Will you be there during that time? I would love to see you perform and take a lesson with you...l;,

That's great Hannan, if you managed to get what you want. Festivals always have nice atmosphere, when you have many dancers around the world and can talk with them :)

I just got an email today from Marwa Hassan (travel agent??) that says they are now offering 25% off classes and tours!!! Registrations must be running a bit low. It would be a deal for someone who is already thinking about going. It isn't something that I can think about this year regardless . . . bad time to take off from work.

Hannan - I attended this last December and unfortunately have to agree mostly with Zenubia, especially re pricing and absorbing.

Zenubia - just wanted to say I enjoyed your dancing in the muwashahat workshop!
