Thread: Any bellydancing fun in the FL/AL panhandle in late Nov?

I'm going to be in Perdido Key, FL from 11/19 - 11/28 and was wondering if there are any BD classes, shopping, performances or other events in that general area during that period? I'd love to check out the local BD scene while I'm there. ..g.:

There must be because Jim Boz has gone to Pensacola and Mesmera to southern AL to give workshops. I don't remember teachers' names, though. You may be able to find out through Jim or Mesmera's sites.

I teach in Pensacola and perform when I can. It's very difficult to get good business in this area, but I can't blame it all on the locals haha!

As far as I know there are no events coming up. The Mobile Ren Faire was this weekend, and we had some P'cola dancers perform there (I couldn't make it ,f::)

I teach "fitness-y" belly dance classes on the UWF campus gym and at Tammy's Riviera Fitness if you want to drop by! Because I don't have my own studio, the only cost is a guest pass which is I think $5 at UWF and similar at Tammy's, I think. Monday 7:30-8:20 PM at UWF and Tuesday 6:45-7:45 at Tammy's.

the troupe leader of Saraab, Sahdia also teaches at the Bayview Community Center in P'Cola. Not sure about her classes and the prices though, but she's an awesome lady anyway!

that's pretty much what our local belly dance scene is limited to. We don't even have any Middle Eastern restaurants here! Well in P'cola at least. We used to have an Indian one but it moved to Ft. Walton. We have a few wonderful Greek restaurants though. no restaurants that offer dancing though.

So what brings you to our neck of the beach?

BF and I are going on vacation! My folks have a condo in Perdido Key, so we're staying there. (Yay, free condo!). This is a total rest and relaxation sort of vacation, so don't really have any plans to speak of. Are you planning on teaching your classes on Thanksgiving week? I may drop in, just for kicks and exercise.

Also if you have any questions about restaurants or things to do around here, please feel free to ask! We have a few nightclubs. We have one in particular called Will Call that offers Latin Night every Thursday. It's free that night. My friend works there, doing the salsa dancing. I haven't been but I'd really like to go. Might want to check that out if latin dance interests you :)
