i had great fun at the party (though performing with both jillina and tito on the front row is a little nerve wracking)...!

jillina and tito's workshops were absolutely great. the show saturyday was just amazing.

the organiser aisa lafour did a great job...
only thing we didnt like was our hotel... (overpriced and too far away from the workshops that changed location last minute)...

but very high quality teaching and show.

it was my first workshop with tito, and i was pleasantly surprised how it was NOT mere following the bouncing butt, he really paid attention to how the class was doing and scraped together all of his english to answer questions if needed. SUPER and challenging choreo.

and jillina, i've taken quite a few of her workshops, and keep termendously enjoying her efficient AND organised AND fun teaching style, challenging combo's, and lovely choreo's, and her overall sharing nature.

highlights from the gala show for me were the aerial/tissue dancing vicky (amazing, my jaw was on the floor), aisa lafour's baladi performance, jade el jabil from brazil (just the right combo of technique, energy AND abandonment, excellent interpretation and sooo much fun), tito's drumsolo on the tabla, aisa, jillina and nefershu dancing a choreo from the bellydance evolution show (that she'd taught in a workshop to the rest of us that afternoon), and jillina's solo sets. and i'm sure i'm forgetting some, the show was very very good. totally worht the expense of the trip to amsterdam and i kept sitting there wishing more of my dance friends were there to see it.

i wasnt able to stay till sunday, and missed the chance to take more workshops, i was very curious about mercedes nieto also and hope to be able to take a class with her some other time.

Re: 1st Orientalicious International Belly Dance congress!

It was the best BD weekend ever for me! Every teacher did a great job: nice combo's, good exercises or moves. All the workshops were challenging but fun, the teachers were on a roll and having fun too.

Really loved the hafla on friday, with a very diverse program of performances. The gala night on saturday was just as good, set as a staged show. Couldn't believe how Aisa got so many talented artists in one place! I loved the trio performance of Aisa, nefershu and Jillina. Tito did three songs, all of them cute. He showed us how using an uncommon prop can really work on stage. The areal artist at the start was breathtaking.

In all I had very little sleep in the past couple of days, but the energy that I gt out of watching the performers and taking workshops kept me going. Sucha difference with other workshop weekends where I needed a week to recover: I can't wait to work through my notes and video material again.
