Thread: Yousri Sharif's weeklong this summer

I'm starting to think about going to New York this summer, to follow Yousri Sharif's weeklong workshop (with Tito and Aida Nour as guest teachers !)

Is anyone from Bhuz going ?

And do you have recommendations / ideas about places to stay ?

I don't, but I can tell you that some of my dance friends went and HIGHLY recommend it. If no one on Bhuz has any ideas about where to stay, I can ask them to e-mail you.

OMG I WISH I could go! I usually study with Aida once a year and this is the only place to do it in the states. But it backs up to the large events going on here in Dallas! So I can't go! I am so jealous of anyone attending! :-)

I understand that they recommend it, I've never been but I recommend it too ..g.: ! I'm just coming back from a 4-day workshop in Paris with Yousri (and had a number of workshops with him in previous years), and I know how great he is !

I am finally going to the weeklong this year! I'm very excited because I love Aida Nour. I live in New York and study with Yousry on a semi-regular basis. There is a list of hotels posted on the Sharif website www.egyptianacademy.com and also on Shira's website http://www.bellydanceny.com/r_lodging_info.html
But I don't really know much about hotels here in New York.

It looks like I may be in NYC for a family party that just happens to coincide with this event. If I can pull it off I will be at whatever I can. I need to find out if it is strictly a flat fee thing, or if I can sign on to a few classes.

At the least I will try to be at the show and Aida's master class. Will know as it gets closer.

As far as lodging--I bounce between family! And man they all keep good food in their fridges. :P

I'm bummed Yousry's not teaching this year. I don't get to NYC often for his regular classes but loved loved loved the intensive when I went a few years ago!

I'm pretty sure Yousry will be teaching along with Tito and Aida Nour. They switch off during the week.
Monica- I don't think you can do day rates but there is a master class with Tito and another one with Aida.
Hopefully I'll be in the gala...

I won't go for the weeklong . . . it is too much for my aching knee . . . but I am seriously thinking of going up for Aida's master class, then have a couple of days for some NYC touristy stuff. I am not sure there is a day rate either, LOL, but it would be nice if I could pick the days with Aida. The master class with Tito is the following weekend and I don't think I can spring for 8 days in NYC that is too much considering the cost of a hotel room!

My bad... Someone had told me he wasn't and was bringing in two guest teachers instead. But the flyer seems to indicate that he is indeed teaching -- yippie!!

Here we are, I fly tomorrow morning ! I'm so happy about it...

My flight leaves early Saturday afternoon! I went last year, and I had a great time. I didn't pick up 100% of the material, but that didn't matter to me. I love to watch Yousry work, and I'm excited to see Tito and Aida. See you guys soon!

I hope you are able to get to Spandex house while you are there! I wish I was going w/ you...
